I don't think it's worth it to buy a new PC until I can get USB 3.0. That, unfortunately, won't be until 2010. Although it is floating about as we speak, the big mass-consumer companies won't have it available yet.

There are rumors floating around that Intel has postponed the launch of USB 3.0 to 2011.

It hasn't been confirmed.... Intel initially planned early samples of USB 3.0 capable chipsets however pushed that back to 2011

Yes. There are some USB 3.0 devices out there already and they come with a card.

They should make pci-e x1 or x4 USB 3.0 expansion cards, i can never fill those slots on a mobo up

Probably x1. Try finding a SATA x4 pci-e card. What's the bandwidth on a single PCI-e lane? Surely loads more than USB3.0 will offer.

No point not getting a new pc just because of USB3. Rather just get the pci or pci-e card later!

I'm not seeing AMD coming up with offering with these 2 new interfaces. These 2 seem to be targeting the Intel range. Is AMD going to fall behind further in the future?

It does look like there's going to be a start now for them to come onto market. Still don't see myself needing it until next upgrade though. I don't have portable drives that will need more than eSATA, no printer that will require it. Also no SSD that will max the new sata spec. They're more than what I'm willing to pay for an SSD.
