SABC told to wake up

The Young Communist League (YCL) of SA lashed out at the SABC on Thursday, saying it needed to get "its ducks in a row" after it delayed the broadcast of Bafana Bafana's game against Serbia by 90 minutes.

This is much the same as a statement made by John Robbie on 702 this morning.

We are supposed to be building tremendous 'gees' around the national soccer team leading up to arguably the biggest sporting event in this country, and we have to wait until the game is played before we can watch it?

Somebody has got to be castigated over this debacle. Another one for the interim board to look at and sort before they move on?

It's such a pity SABC has the rights to screen the 2010 World Cup. They will make a royal mess up of it, mark my words. Yesterday we had to endure crapy video, and horrible audio for 45 min and the broadcast was not even live!!!!
If they can't get it right on a delayed broadcast, then we might as well forget about seeing the 2010 World Cup on TV?

Maybe the YCL should be concentrating on more important things like education etc....that way if and when SA ever hosts the tournament again they will have better educated people in charge of the SABC?

Only a delayed soccer match could get this much attention from the YCL. Forget the billions of Rands deficit. Forget the strike. Forget the unpaid producers. Forget the cutting back of local productions.

But, when soccer is delayed! Heaven forbid!

Or, we could deal with the real issues. It would appear the the reality of the situation has escaped the YCL.

However, if soccer is what it takes to get the SABC in order, then so be it!

But they had to take a stand, and soccer is something that they have an idea about. GDP is a sort of tracker, no?

At least they said something with which reasonable people can agree with, for a change. No one listens to their political statements anyway. I still doubt if they have more than 50 members, so they deserve less media exposure than the Girl Guides.

NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, its better they stick with soccer!

Apparently it's SAFA's fault that the game was not shown live. Some contractual agreement that any Bafana Bafana's matches will be televised after 20H00.....or something along those lines.

Here's a great idea why don't SAFA sell the rights to Supersport and they can sell it back to SABC like they do with the PSL rights?
That way Supersport will always screen the games live and SABC will be free to screen their beloved "Generations".
They can always show the games "delayed live" or whatever they call it...:D

They should wake up or just drop dead

Title says it all.
They always were incompetent now they are becoming irrelevant.
