[wanted] AMD Socket A / 462 CPU

He Wants 5000 For The System Is It Worth It???

Yes, that's a really good price, IMO. In fact, how come he's selling it so cheap ?

Any catch?

What did u pay for the 6600GT, cause I personally would not have bothered [to buy the 6600] if your buddy was offering his system for 5k! [edit:] I would have just gone out and bought the 5k system!

Are u working or still in 'school'? :)

LOL, I'm in software development. C# is my current poison of choice.

Err... that's a good price... like maybe 2 years ago!

If I look at Sahara prices, a Biostar nVidia GeForce 6600GT with DDR2 goes for R699 ex VAT. the DD3 version is R999 ex VAT.
Granted these are the PCIex (express) versions and u need AGP, but still!

Is this the same buddy offering u that 7800GT system for R5500?
Any way u can get ur money back for the 6600GT???

If u have the bucks now, and u aren't worried about getting an absolute dream machine[1], then his system sounds pretty decent at an excellant price, assuming the machine is working properly and all ;)

[1] by dream machine I mean spending 12k+ on a system so that u can play the latest and great games at the best possible frame rate.

What is it that you want to be able to do with your system?
U gotta ask yourself that as well as how long do u want the system to last u in terms of gaming or whatever!

Value for money is my objective when I buy a new system or upgrade something. It can be a lot of info to absorb if u r new to all this, but well worth the rewards to at least be clued up about what it is that u need to build a system that you will be happy with! That said, I have not personally been keeping up with the latest cutting edge hardware. My system spec is equal to yours now (with the exception of 1gb of RAM instead) but other mates have bigger and better rigs & dreams that I :p

I Don't Really Wanna Do Extreme Gaming Just These Normal Games, Fifa 07,cricket 07 And Nfs Carbon, Dream Machine Sounds Very Nice Though, really Going Towards That Soon, But I Better Buy It Before I Get Married, Thats Next Year Feb, I Gotta Do Alot Of Stuff Before I Get Married, coz Lord Knows Thereafter Bru, There's Nothing Left.lol

Typing Skills!!!

It Just Gives You Fingers A Bit More Flexibility When It Comes To Typing, But Thats About It. Which Places In Cape Town Would You Suggest I Go To For Machines

Depends on whether u know people that are dealers at the various PC wholesalers or not. PM me if u need more advice...

Your buddies PC for R5500 *may* be adequate for a good while still. What I mean is that I have practically the same setup as you (6600GT etc...) and I don't see myself upgrading until I play anything more demanding than Battlefield 2 and Guild Wars... If I am going to be playing more hectic games I dont mind turning the detail down if need be. [Edit] I might be quite content to go a whole year with my current rig. Have had it specced like this for 2 years now! My next 'upgrade' will be a completely new system with PCI-express but will delay as long as possible because it's going to cost over 10k

Your buddies PC with the 7800GT and P4 Ht 3.2ghz dual core sounds like a bargain because of the asking price.

It all comes down to your needs (needs of the games you want to play and frame rate and quality u r willing to accept) your budget and longevity you want out of your rig.

Depending on what game you want to play, today's dream machine can become tomorrow's disappointment... Tho it usually only happens like that if they game in question is poorly written or just so amazing that it brings any rig to its knees!

Difficult to give advice on this because there is no generic advice that one can give really.

Google 'tomshardware benchmarks' and see how different PC specs compare. From there u can compare prices and decide for yourself what's worth spending your money on.

Disclaimer: Don't take my advice as gospel. Listen to what others have to say and decide based on what makes sense to you (or the person you think knows what they are talking about :D )

I have the ASUS K7 Flagship A7N8X-E Deluxe.
That supports 266/333/400 FSB and 266/333/400
DDR RAM single/dual channel ram.

It is compatible with all ranges of AMD XP and
Duron cpus. I am looking anyone that has a spare
working cpu lying around, that wasn't overclocked.

I prefferably am looking for AMD XP but if you
have a Duron 1gig and up lying around I will also
consider it.

This is seriously urgent and I would appreciate
any repsonses. Prices are negotiable.

Thanks
