FFS, I can't post this in classifieds, hence I'm doing so here. I'm looking for what it says, the best touch typist's keyboard ever made. Mine broke some years ago and I have a new job which involves intensive copy editing. I'm seriously fast but I need the tools to help me do the job. If I can't get a Model M, I will have to import a Das Keyboard. I'm hoping to get something sooner than that. Can you help?

Nobody has ever made keyboards like IBM did - I'm typing on one at the moment, replaced PC's a few times, but always kept the old keyboard.

But these things were expensive, can still remember, they were about R700, and that was more than 10 years ago.

But you don't get this quality any more - I'll have to take this thing apart and clean it because I want it for another 10 years.

Wonder if you can get a USB adapter for it ?

Best ever. I have an AT&T keyboard around the same vintage and technology but the keys are too spongy.

There are a few more IBM keyboards around here, maybe I can scrounge one for you - will have a look. I see that you are in Joburg.

I use this one...

Not so great... but better than most.

Some companies make similar keyboards, using ALPS mechanical keyswitches, the same found in those old keyboards. I found one, the Matias Tactile Pro, although it's an Apple keyboard I'm sure there's similar which is PC. Anyway there's almost no difference so check it out:

Thread resurrection coming up.
I can get a Filco from the Uk but they're out of stock. Now that the gamers are using these, they're scarce in the Western world. I've tracked down some Chinese/Taiwanese sites (they come from that part of the world), but it's difficult navigating through these sites even with Google Chrome translator.
Luckily, my son is now working in Shanghai, so I've asked him to get a friendly Mandarin speaker in the office to help him get one of these:

1. Ducky Tenkeyless with Cherry brown switches and obviously an English keyboard, not a combination thereof;
2. Filco Majestouch Tenkeyless board with Cherry brown switches, also in English and ideally with US layout.

I'll post updates if anyone's interested.

I have a spotless IBM Model M if anyone is interested in buying it.

Thanks for the replies

R1000 for keyboard and ps2 to usb convertor.

I've heard of Daskey before but how do they compare to the mechanical keyboards out there today? Like the Corsair K95 RGB?

No idea, that post is 6yrs old & I dunno if the competition has caught up or not.
