Hi, I am looking for a NAS, I have 4 Harddrives that I want to use in it.

Budget: Cheaper than the price in the shops preferably.
Condition: Beggers can't really be choosers, but hopefully its in near mint shape.
Location: Bellville, Stellenbosch, Worcester, Rawsonville ( In that order )

More Details: I want to get rid of my massive pc and settle for something smaller like a NUC and then have a NAS hidden away somewhere in the closet.

Buy yourself a Rasberri Pi, run NAS software and connect your drives on there? :) Cheapest I can think of

The problem with this is powering the drives.

I did the same a couple of days ago. I went for this:

http://www.rebeltech.co.za/for-35-h...ay-external-enclosure-4x-35-sata-to-esat.html

R1500 and it takes 4 sata drives. USB2/3 and Esata connection options. No LAN, but you're planning on using a NUC anyways, so it doesn't matter?

No no no :)

Nuc is workstation.

NAS is hidden is closet connected to the network for the TV, and all devices on the network.

Did cross my mind to be honest.

Pi with that NexStar 4 bay thing will probably be a cheap solution and reasonably quiet. Just don't expect epic transfer speeds.

Maybe you should hunt around for a 2nd hand HP MicroServer. May take you a while to find one, but they do get offloaded from time to time.

What's your budget? For new money you can get a D-Link NAS, which looks remarkably "cheap" compared to similar sized devices in the market.
