I know this is a sorry excuse for a thread. I'm bored - waiting for that dumb WAR patch to download. Here's an interesting thought: what's actually on the disks shipped in the Warhammer Online standard box?

I picked up the box from BT Games and noticed the words "Beta wot is closed" in red blood smears on the startup screen immediately before the patch process launched.

Did anyone else see this?

My theory: the disks actually contain the BETA version and the 819MB patch is the upgrade to the release build.

If this is the case, EA fail badly at shipping software. To think, if they had just shipped a gold-master build, at least some of that damn patch could have been avoided.

What I dont get is that I am using the beta / head start client and the biggest patch was 200mb when I first got it, after that maybe 20mb of updates at most - so they pressed the lauch dvd's before this stage, so you were actually better off with the beta client.

Yes, you are correct ;). I had a similar client before launch. EA Australia failed even more , they shipped a version that could not even patch at all....you'll find alot of outcry on some warhammer forums about that. They want new discs, for good reason.
