Warlocks & Hunters have pets for a reason right?

Most hunters and Locks don't understand how to use their pets properly. Their mindset is that their character does the majority of dmg and their pets do very little.

Garbage, I play a hunter as well and my pet rocks in damage...

I think sometimes they forget  but WTF? I usually have to remind the guys to use their pets because the pet is in passive (which I can understand if you're running around not trying to aggro other mobs as you pass them off to the boss)

But in a boss fight?

It's as if I forget to HoT the tank right before he pulls the boss....

At least there's some decent guys out there, did a few runs just now, had to kick a player (don't know why) for the first time. Got a few achievements which is always nice... That bitch in Old Kingdom (or was it Ank something) is a tough broad to get "Volunteer" especially when she enrages. The DK died twice... and he's like "I blame the game" and then I check his name... "IBlameTheGameDK" :p

One shot dead I tell you.... Even after my masterful Rebirth/Rejuv/Swiftmend/WG he died again right before we downed her :(

He died SO badly the 2nd time it took 2 Revives!!! :D

Last I checked, a BM hunters pet contributes as much as 40-50% of their dps, and while it's quite a bit less for MM & Surv, say around 20% or so, it's still a *very* large chunk of pewpew thet're giving up by not using their pet. So yeah, I hate the term as a hunter, but players like that definately earn the Huntard title.

The hunters probably got tired of getting screamed at because they forget to disable auto-taunt on their pet. :p

Most hunters I played with actually use their pet in a fight. I know because their pets are right next to me behind the boss when dps'ing.

That's also why I get angry when the pet taunts, because the boss will turn around and that means that I can't Shred anymore. Same thing with DK's Army of the Dead (or whatever it's called). The boss changes direction so much that's it's difficult for to position for shred, which means I have to switch to mangle.

Don't know why locks don't use their demons though.

That's because there are more players than pets :p

Sometimes the hunters leave their pets on auto-taunt, and that creates problems.

Even taking my own experience with my own pets (hunter and lock both) into account there, I've seen way more player body pulls than by pets :)

Buy yeah, it's very easy to forget to turn off taunt on your pet, and it can cause tanks to go grey early.
An easy solution I've found is to keep a pet for instances with taunt toggled off at all times that I only ever use in instances, and another pet that I use for solo play with taunt enabled. And given one is a wolf, and the other is a big ass gorilla called Clyde, it's pretty hard to get them mixed up :p
On the lock it's a littler harder to remember, as I tend to use my felguard for both, but I'm starting to get into the habit of using my imp in instances there, so that shouldn't be a problem either.

The warlock pet is there so the paladin can holy shock something while the warrior brostorms the warlock to death

They don't taunt raid bosses any more. So only loose mobs in raids, and of course bosses and mobs in normal/heroic 5mans.
AotD is one of those things that can be a lifesaver or a wiper.

As for pets in general, those guys who're at the top of the dps meters will be those guys using their pets. They may only contribute 10 or maybe 20% of your dps, but that's 10 or 20% more than not using them, and the difference between being in the top 5 on recount, or the bottom. These days the dps differential between classes is so minimal, every class has to use every tool at their disposal to remain competitive.
