yussis there are a lot of poeps that are getting confused here on anti-islanding and Eskom and Ramaphosa couch.
1) A classic microinverter never used batteries, in fact you cannot even connect batteries to them because they are 220v, therefore it only used solar power directly to the inverters which were then wired directly into the DB board. All these microinverters need 220v grid power in order to turn on, therefore when Eskom went down the inverters turned off <-- that is the islanding, it's a protection.
2) can you wire the microinverter to a 220v plug and just plug it in, yes you can and it works 100%. The inverters just measure the grid signal to synchronize phase and frequency. They do not blow up, or your house burns down, same as the DB board wiring.
3) if you have a bi-directional meter (the old classic dial ones) will it slow the spin rate down or turn backwards, yes. If your house is consuming 500 watts and your microinverter is plugged in generating 1000w then your meter spins backwards at -500w/per hour
4) obviously Eskom don't like you number (3) because you are selling power to Eskom at the same rate they are selling it to you.

6) with regards to these new systems, they're not really microinverters as such, they are complete hybrid solar systems... just small. So the battery turns the inverter on (just like a normal system in a power failure)
7) and Jerry rig everything's system is almost 10 years old, not "recently"
