Just an article I came across about QuickPic's buyers.

I've uninstalled, but use it, don't use it...

If you're unfamiliar with Cheetah Mobile, they're one of those developers that create the apps that you end up having to remove from your family members' phones at Thanksgiving when they ask why it sucks so much now. They've created dozens and dozens of apps across a handful of near-identical Play Store publisher names, all of which are free and dripping with adware. Many of the apps that they provide are duplicates of features already installed on your phone, like flashlights, keyboards, and browsers - they're basically making unnecessary versions of standard apps that inject advertising into your life at every opportunity.

So uninstall an incredibly useful app because the creators have created other apps that users *choose* to install?

Yep, and I love the app too. But the principle is the over riding factor here. I absolutely detest companies like this who make endless unsuspecting lives a complete misery.

I'd rather find a new app.

Until I see that QuickPic has actually changed for the worse I'll continue using it. I haven't come across a gallery app that's nearly as good.

That's not cool. Love quickpic but a bit nervous that it will update to a crapware version... Any suggestions for other good galleries? Basically I just like it for the speed and the auto rotation override (phone is set not to rotate, only quickpic rotates).

I need a built in resize function on a gallery app. Seems like the search for the holy grail is easier.

Yes that edit/resize feature is useful too, especially since tapatalk stopped resizing.

I'll just keep it installed and not update it then. When a decent alternative comes around I'll switch. Don't see any reason to uninstall it right away if it's not updating.

Don't be too hasty to Uninstall. CM are adding valuable functions FOR FREE!

Will continue using QuickPic until it stops doing what it does now...

It's a shame that the original dev didn't have a $0.99/1.99 in-app purchase or something to enable enhanced functionality. I'm sure many people would have paid gladly. It will be a crying shame if Cheetah Mobile screws up QuickPic.

I've disabled the auto update for now just in case.

CM12.1 is pretty decent with regards to permission management anyway.

Will see how the app changes before I move to something else.

Really loved QuckPic.

I see there's a QuickPic update. It's a pain in the ass having to manually update all other apps to prevent QuickPic updating. Any way to set a particular app to not update?

Also not happy about this, so tried alternatives in the Play Store

'Focus' not bad, but lack settings - presently using 'Piktures' and could be a keeper

Leave everything on auto update except quickpic?
