Warrior Race

What are you saying?

I'm saying pullups are hard. For men and women but women in particular struggle. I'm not talking about crossfit style kipping "pullups". Those are more like some weird shoulder rotation thing. I'm talking about going from a dead hang to chin over the bar with palms facing away. Note I'm not saying women are weak, far from it I think in an average gym you're more likely to find a woman who can deadlift double bodyweight than a man. I'm also not saying it's impossible for a woman to do a proper pullup, far from it again but it will take some serious training and determination. and if you are overweight some dieting.
Most people are probably familiar with Linda Hamilton's scene in Terminator 2 doing pullups off a bed. Looks pretty badass. It IS. People don't realize how hard she worked to get into that shape.
There was some hooha in the U.S recently when it was revealed half of female marine recruits couldn't pass a 3 pullup minimum requirement (compared to 1% of males).

But from the sounds of it you don't need to be able to do a proper pullup or even kip for this warrior thing, just get a friend to give you a leg up or something.

Done 4 Warrior and 2 Impi, Warrior is easy and you do not have to be fit. Impi is a little tougher with the longer distance but the obstacles on both are basically the same.

Do it as a team and have fun, my first Impi I raced hard all for a picture at the end. It is much more enjoyable when you can laugh at your mates and help others along the course because you dont care about the finishing time.

Enjoy when you do your first one.
