Was in an accident

It's raining like crazy in Pretoria and I was travelling 40km/h the whole way because I wanted to be cautious, and on the street that I live a b!tch was going to jump a stop and suddenly decided to brake.

Me being on a bike, I had to apply brakes because if she jumped I'd not be typing this. It's wet as f**k so my bike goes out from under me. I'm alright just a few scrapes and torn clothes but everyone just stopped and watched me trying to pick up my almost 200kg bike while in pain because the tar ate through my jeans. She just drove off!

My fairing is separated (was the original nc23 fairing) and my brake handle snapped off. Luckily she works perfectly but I'm really just so frustrated that I'd rather cry than go ... someone up :(

Rule #1 on the roads - expect that every other driver is an imbecile.

At least you're OK...

tco21, damn! ouch! Getting her back to 100% is almost impossible.
I'd also feel like crying.

no, need to assume, I can guarantee you that they are in fact, embiciles.

They drive hesitantly, they brake for no reason, they drive through red lights and wait at green lights, they faff around and drift across lanes. Seriously, bunch of freaking loons.

Glad you are ok tco21

I love bikes and have a license for any size. I just can't see the sense in having one in a country where the drivers are borderline mental. The rain problem is also a consideration.

Suppose it's karma for this morning accidentally jumping a light. The right rear-view mirror is gone too. Sigh... Oh well, I'll fix her fairing up a bit when I have money, for now I'll just need to budget for a front brake handle.

Will have to commute to work tomorrow just using the back brake. Luckily bikes slow down a lot from down-shifting.

C'est la vie.

She was driving an SUV. Stared me down as she drove off too.

Ouch. At least you're ok and thank you lucky stars.
I'll save you the bikes in the rain speech,
but seriously replace your helmet also no matter how small the knock.

It's amazing but my helmet does not have a scratch. Somehow I managed to keep my chin up even through hard times. haha

Keep a safe following distance, don't talk on your cell phone and you'll be fine.
Increase the distance when it's wet.

Come on, you know all of these things. You don't own the road.

Be Prepared, Be Polite, Be Patient.

Haha. I'd like to see a biker on his phone while riding. Or not... that WILL end in tears. I did keep alert all the way through. I must have braked just a fraction too hard or hit a wet patch when I did.

Wet roads and front brakes are a bad idea anyway. When I drive in the rain it's back brake all the way.
