What's the cheapest way to be able to manually check on my pets via camera this weekend?

Small IP camera can do it?
Use an old cellphone somehow? ;)

If you have a spare working android phone you can install ip camera software on it. You will need an internet connection at home and may have to setup ip forwarding to the phone.

Good luck :)

Don't you have a neighbour or friend who can check on them once or twice a day?

Any specific reason you want to check yourself?

Please don't leave your pets unattended.
There are many people who will house sit or a kennel where you can drop them off.

Edit: I'm assuming you will be leaving them unattended.

On second thought.

Take them with.

There are many excellent house and petsitters that can come in once or twice a day to care for your pets. Ask your local vet clinic, they normally can recommend reliable people.

Thanks - I do have a spare Android phone. I'll search for an app ... unless you have a suggestion you've tried?

I've got a friend that is popping to feed/water ; but I prefer to periodically check that all is alright as well, and prefer knowing I can check 24hrs

I did it once with an iPad and old webcam I had, but it was a mission to set up.

I've just spent some time looking at remote viewing apps. I eventually found Presence - I'm using it on old iPhone 3GS but I believe there is an Android app. The free version works fine for me, but you may want to check what the paid options are. Also, I was looking only for iPhone apps; there may be a lot more/better apps available for Android.

I use a spare laptop with my phone using Google remote desktop. I then open the camera app using the phone and it will stream remotely.

Grab a old android cellphone download and install My Alfred , put it somewhere save where your pets normally are connect it to a charger if your going to be away for 5+ hours , you can then login to beta.my-alfred.com
