Hi,

Is there any way one can watch a "non-yet finished" torrent without having to be online and previewing it? The reason i ask is my download has frozen and wont go past 90% so now i want to see what parts of the movie im missing.

Thanks

I don't think so no because they're not downloaded sequentially, you're likely to have small bits missing all over the file.

there's a program called avi-fix or divx-fix or something, it's part of the ace codec pack. Open the file in that program and you'll be able to watch it

You won't be able to watch the first 90% sequentially though. There's also an app called AVIpreview that does the same.

doesnt work or isnt a recognised avi file extension. Maybe its cos the movies extension is .avi.bt so divx wont read it. ne way to remove that .bt part cos it isnt shown on the shown on the file name so simply deleteing it wont work.

I'ts quite funny the problem you are describing. I just read an article 2 minutes ago about torrents freezing at 90%..... :D

Check this out..... http://torrentfreak.com/mpaa-caught-uploading-fake-torrents/

Those bloody idiots just cost me half my data. Oh well, guess ill just get it off someone on the wug.

Sometimes torrents will slow down at the end and start seeding more of what you downloaded.

I downloaded some video recently and was able to view it quite early on in VLC. The quality was poor (for that stage), but I could get an idea of what I was getting.

I don't know about the torrent app you are using, but on mine, if you disconnect and connect at a later time (when internet is faster) you can continue where you left off. (caution is advised).

yeah mines the same, resuming capabilities.... but somehow i feel i was a victim of a fake torrent.

Its probably a honey-pot trap. Pity but you've wasted your time and data on nothing. :o

I use mplayer to view incomplete files, if you run it with mplayer -idx it will fix the file as you play without changing it.

Torrent uploaders often stop seeding when one person has around 90% to stop leachers, then they carry on seeding after a day or so

People stop seeding for many reasons. We are in a different timezone, so our peak time is out of synch fpr a start.
