Water hose touching engine part

NO!

That rubber will melt and burn and you will have a burning Corsa on the side of the road.

Don't be stupid and don't be cheap, just buy the CORRECT hose for your car (they are not expensive and Opel made 655283652718934628232394 Corsas so you will easily find one at a spares shop, scrapyard etc.)

Just fit the right part and you wont have issues. These "solutions" you are trying are going to either break your car or kill you.

I can get the part but i need somebody to help me fit it.

this. Or get somebody else to help you.

Some of us work on our own cars.

yeh i want to get some guidance from those that do work on their own cars... i especially bought a jack and trestles and spark plugs a oil tray pan and Hepu anti freeze 5 litres and 4 litres Distled water and air filter and oil filter and petrol filter , i just wish somebody can guide me it would be awesome. I mean i am not a buldozer built person so i dont have all the arm strength in the world but baby steps im sure i can improve and get some muscle on my chicken arms.

As for that pipe i have asked my current mechanic to please put a new decent water pump for me and then i asked about that rubber pipe , he says he will source it for me or other wise dealer... ... but i told him to check the codition of the current one... as far as i know that current pipe is still in good nick , i was just concerned because it rests on the alternator which gets hot from the engine heat ....

If the current pipe is the wrong pipe, it doesn't matter what nick it's in. Replace it.

As for the guidance, I'd recommend youtube. Seriously. You can find videos on doing just about anything on any car. I've used it for wheel bearings, water pumps, head gaskets...

OP, your choices are correct pipe, heat wrap or a bit of carbon fibre in between the hose and the engine party.

Thanks,.,. will get that stuff from Gold Wagen or Kotwals or Autostyle... maybe Autozone might even have ill check.

Where can i buy a decent tool set like with the hex tools and stuff because for exmaple on the opel i see u need torx or hex for the brakes?
I want to learn to change my own brake pads and or discs.... but i need to know what tool i need... for example when i check youtube its either american talk where they say eight inches of a whatever and i dont understand , or they have music and no talking and maybe some print to say what it is , but its too foreign to me.
I only know 6mm or 8mm or torex 20 ,thats what i understand.
Like my wheel is a 17" or 17mm thats all i know.... so i bought the breaker bar for it or as they say here the power bar.

Anyways , i didnt know u get hex for the brakes.... at least that is what it looks like in the video.
io just need to know what sizes are common so i can buy a bit at a time , i dont know if i know what i am buying so i would not want to buy an entire kit and it is **** quality or somebody tells me off again about it

The first thing you need to get is a proper ramp or at least some decent axle stands. I proper hydraulic jack would be nice too, but you can you use the dinky one that's in the boot if you must, but please put axle stands under the car before you work on it.

Seconded.
Safety first.

Best purchase for my DIY work so far:

Indeed old Opels are full of Torx screws and bolts, very irritating especially when the damn things are too tight to unscrew and strips, had that issue with the aluminium sump bolt. I buy most of my tools at Builders, but you can also buy those from the motor spares shops, just take your time to buy everything, these can be expensive and always buy in a set. Also check second hand shops like Cash converters, you can pick yourself brand new tools at a steal.

Hi, i bought a midas trolley jack the `1.5 ton one it looks so small and it doesnt lift well in my opinion, but i use it and my friend tells me it is fine? I also bought theur trestle set....one with a pin you slot in

Is fine? or must is restart?

I have the midas axle stands as well. I use them as a backup for the mean-ass jack I have.
I don't know if they still have it, but I bought a blue metal toolbox kit from Midas a few years ago. It had just about everythign I've ever needed to work on my cars with a few weird exceptions like long hex drivers.

Also like to throw a few spare tyres under the car for extra safety insurance as well as wheel chocks

yeh my nut or screw eventually stripped they said, they eventually got me a nice opel astra one which fits tighter and better... they also use a blob of this silver looking silicone.

anyways correct me if i am wrong, but it seems i have a torx type nut also for the sump which is the one i described about so not sure if this is an astra type or what.

anyways

So long as i can service my own car next time.

I did buy an entire service kit , i am just not sure how to fir the fuel filter it looks very awkward and the those clips looks like a pain.
also not sure if i need to keep those clips or if i can just use the whole set i get from the german looking filter i bought, forgot the name, its black in color, its not a Gud.

As for spark plugs and air filter and oil filter i am sure i can do that stuff.
I guess i just need a plastic tub or something like 10 liters for the oil to drain in to.

I just need to know what i can buy in terms of decent tools, i have a tool set but it is not great, its like a starter one with sockets and a rachet and stuff.

I need the torx stuff, i have screw drivers but size 5 to 10 and then i have another set from 10 to 20 i think but i need the hex set and or at least a decent socket torx set, game usually have nice stuff but i asm not sure what to buy and what not to buy,

My aim is to spend a bit here and there and make up.... dont know.i dont know if i can just spend 1or 2 grand and i dont really know what i am buying, and i am not a hardcore motor mechanic anyways

Start off small and over time you start collecting tools , as and when you require them for the job at hand. You will never have enough tools :)

what opel tools can i start offf with finding then?
i need the ones for front brake pads, and discs, please?
i watched a youtube video but the guy doesnt talk and it looks so easy but i bet it is a pain to do.
It seems i need a hex tool of some sort and that long bar with the rachet, i think i dont know
i just want to know what i need to gets o i can get it and not get ripped off by somebody selling me the wrong thing.
anybody from the central east part of joburg like Kensington Cyrildene Bedford Bez Valley Eastgate Bruma region that can point me to a decent place for tools, besides game or makro or mica of course.

Hi, i have a water hose and it is touching an engine part which gets very very hot, its just plain bare metal but the contour of the metal is actually making a concave type of mold in the pipe which i am worried about.
...For now i have used Thickly Folded tin foil and put it between the pipe and the engine part.
what can i use to re-inforce the pipe or place between the two ?

Don't worry about the heat. worry about the grinding between the rubber and the metal tie it away somehow.
