Think that's a sign of rust in the geyser
Maybe municipality did some work on the system.
This happens quite often. Much too often. Damn, water looked so nice.... to go paddling on it.
I have become very skeptical of the quality of the water, we stopped drinking tap water a while ago, only bottled.
Even though the thought of showering in dirty water is sif, I don't think it can kill you completely, only slightly.
Run tap water through a water distiller and witness the smelly brown sludge that's left behind after a while.I have become very skeptical of the quality of the water, we stopped drinking tap water a while ago, only bottled.

Just bought myself a Berkey Water Purifier![]()
And are you happy with it? Which one did you buy and what did it cost?
What I like is the no power requirement, as I dont have a socket where I want to place it. Unfortunately it won't be cold though.
I roughly calculated that we spend about R2700 per year on bottled water, it might be time to invest in one of these..
Absolutely love it to bits. Like you say not using electricity is a real bonus.
I bought a Travel Berkley which is perfect for one person and a set of fluoride filters at a total cost of R4 400 (purifier R3 500, fluoride filters R890 for 2). Two black filters come with the unit and are good for 22 700 litres. The 2 fluoride filters need replacing annually.
The guy keeps stock locally. He's in Randburg and allowed me to collect the same day.
If you do decide to buy, bear in mind the two fluoride filters take up space in the lower chamber so you won't get the full capacity of water.

EDIT: filters require priming. I suggest you do it in the garden - either naked or wearing only a bathing costume![]()
