Watercooling parts?

Hi
I'm interested in getting my pc watercooled. (My GPU is loud as hell)
I can't find any good stores to buy parts. All the online stores have next to nothing for watercooling.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy?

The RASA has proven to be one of the best kit watercooling solutions around. The fact that it is a triple rad design means that you can add to the existing loop (if you decide to Crossfire/Sli) or cool your single GPU as well as CPU. Buying bits from overseas is going to cost you a lot and offer you very little advantage over the RASA.

The point is he wants to cool his GPU! So he has to import a block or buy one 2nd hand... You can get one of those universal jobs but I'd go for full cover water block.

I've got the XSPC Rasa CPU block and the dual bay res +pump, they amazing parts and that RASA you linked to is a good price, but the fact remains he still needs a GPU block..

Peanut, read the second line of his thread. It says "I'm interested in getting my pc watercooled. (My GPU is loud as hell)"

What I'm offering him is the right tools to cool both his CPU as well as GPU at a good price.

Buying the RASA locally will work out cheaper than buying the sum of it's parts internationally (based on an individual importing parts from PPCS or Frozen). Even if you factor in the price of the CPU block into the cost of the local RASA along with a GPU block it is still going to cost less than bringing in individual parts of the same quality (excluding the CPU block). That is the advantage of a kit in this case.

It's a given that he will have to buy the GPU block for whatever option he takes, be it individual parts or the RASA Kit. You clearly stated this and I silently agreed. The RASA offers him the opportunity to cool both GPU as well as CPU at a very good price (with the addition of a GPU block).
 
Hey thanks for the links guys... So is there nowhere in SA that I can get GPU blocks? Also, I'm not even sure that I can get full cover GPU blocks for my card as it is a non-reference 5970. Does the RASA come with tubing?

If it is a non-reference card, then tell us exactly which model.
 
I have an XFX 5970 Black Edition Limited 4 Gb Card. I originally had a reference 2Gb one but RMA'ed it and got the current one as a replacement :D

Bit of a bummer, though, for watercooling. Looks like you may struggle to find a block to fit, since neither of those blocks above will be compatible with it, since the chips are so far apart.

You could try two small blocks just for the chips, and then you would definitely want little heatsinks on the VRMs/RAM and then a fan also blowing onto them, maybe a dual fancard in the closest available open slot. No idea where to start with the blocks, though.
 
Dam you see that's what I didn't want: more fans blowing onto the card itself. Would heatsinks alone do the trick?
 
Sorry, I missed the 4GB part.
Neither of these blocks will work and AFAIK there is no block designed for the 4GB model.

You'll have to go with aircooling :(

I really doubt it. See with the reference PCB, there are holes with which to attach larger heatsinks over the majority of VRMs to cool them passively, but with your 4GB card the VRMs are in a very different place, perhaps to do with fitting the extra RAM chips in.

Reference VRMs - note the holes on the right above and below the long line of VRMs, that is where you could attach a large passive heatsink.

Your VRMs - see how they are in the middle at the top and bottom (small black squares), with no real way of putting a large heatsink over them.
 
Hmmm... I see... I wonder if it would be better to sell my card and get a 6990 instead. There are parts for those right? Apparently my card retails for more than the 6990 anyways
 
I think that's just out dated pricing.. there is no reason to pay more for a 5970 than a 6990... I wouldn't anyways..
Reference 2nd hand they going for around R3000
 
I know I know, but it's a 4 gb card, it's a limited edition and 5xxx series are high in demand right now for bitcoining...
 
You'll most probably be able to get it here for under R2000

Thats because people are selling them for pretty cheap, so it's more cost effective to buy a 5 series than a 6 series as they get very similar MHash\s
