I am in need of a new waterproof backpack that has a laptop compartment.
My current bag the SW Motech Baracuda dry bag, did not last very long. The straps started tearing off after about a year of use. It can't be stitched back as this will leave the bag not being waterproof any more.

Any suggestions of good quality waterproof bags that can carry a heavy load on a daily basis?

I know you won't want to hear it, but it's called a top box :p What exactly are you riding?
As for bags, I could not find any that are suitable. There are several that have a waterproof cover that goes over but I'm wary of the cover coming off in wind.

I ride 2 bikes. So a top box is not an option.
I have a KTM 690 SMC R and a Bajaj Pulsar 180. I alternate between the two.
I think I found what I'm looking for but will have to check it out before I buy. I'm looking at this http://www.bikegear.co.za/att/Triton backpack final.pdf

You want a Kriega.

That's what I have and it's certified waterproof because it has a bag inside a bag system for the main compartment. I have ridden with this every day and the main compartment has never gotten wet.

The two front pockets aren't certified waterproof but rather splashproof, mostly because the zips will eventually let water in. Even in the worst of worst rain weather they've never been wet but rather just a little bit damp.

There is no laptop compartment as such, you are unlikely to find anything like that. It's a big cavity and you do what you want with it.

At first I thought it was too big, but it's actually the perfect size to do just about anything and everything.

It's also made for motorcycling unlike the Pelican cases I've tried before which get very uncomfortable very quickly. The harness is designed for you to literally not even be aware of the bag on your back.

It made a world of difference to me, since I always despised riding with backpacks.

Also 10 year guarantee. Don't waste your money on any other product.

Both those seem like they'll do what you need. I can vouch for the longevity of the ATG in general, it regularly gets used by people on weekend trips and even after a few lapses of concentration and meetings with gravel they hold up pretty well.

I would implore you to just go try a Kriega.

The harness system alone and the way it distributes the weight makes it worth the price.

Just received the Trition. It is a very nice bag, with do nicely.

There is one feature I don't understand, from the brochure

Easy-lock shoulder strap detaches on right side using a Fastex connector, making it easy to put on the backpack when wearing a stiff armoured motorcycle jacket

To me that means that one of the shoulder straps can be unclipped, so you can put the bag over one shoulder, and then just click the other without resorting to the awkward "double arm in the air manuvouring the bag down". This feature definitely doesn't exist however

I also received mine. That feature is definitely not there. I hope these bags are 100% waterproof. I can see through the top of the bag when I hold it up to the light.

thread necro!

so a year down the line were the bags worth it?

I am looking at getting a decent bag, yes a box would be a better solution, but I like the look of my bike without a box or saddle bags (Yamaha Virago 535).

Started to have the rain suit in the bag with me all the time, and the current laptop bag from Incredible is just not cutting it.
suggestions?
