WBS & iBurst websites broken

Ok dude, I can see by those comments we may have something in common because I am in web development too (among other things)

It is a stupid blurb line and the design is crappy, but it seems like it was supposed to look like the other iburst sites, just in a different (vomit) colour.
One thing I like is that they do obviously have a backend they can expand on later for dynamic content related to the users, and I think the help desk is ok.

There is one thing I think needs to change, they either need to use the data like user information or bandwith usage to make little pictures or movies or graphs or soemthing, or they need to DROP THE FLIPPING FLASH

The use of Flash is just redundant for the "interactive" sections.

Putting a Google seach box is just so cheesy - very 90's

The photoshoot is just so blatantly wrong, it's quite sad. Demographically, they stuffed up with that image, that's all I'll say about it.

Lets see how the 3 Gig cap changes things, now they've got some users "hooked in and loyal"

excuse me?

Why do you need to be excused ?

Ok, we have one black chick lying around on the floor - that's it. Where's the community, the rest of the people that would use it. Like me, like you. I don't identify with the image, but I could if they variated it a bit - something like Ubuntu.

Also, that Flash animation is terrible - it doesn't loop :)

being a flash developer/designer there is a perfect word for alot of the flash on
WBS... flashturbation... They did not need it... except on the edit details.
I think it works well there... nice form with sliding venetian nav... but yeah not
required.

I dont identify with that picture because I'm male you mean?

No, because it's terrible !

How the hell do those two repeating photos represent broadband internet !
Not one iota ! - she may as well be modelling Lux !

well I feel a bit bad telling a flash developer this but um THE NAVIGATION IS NOT DONE IN FLASH

*slap*
I am talking about the part where you edit your details and you can change your email and physical address and stuff :) That gizmno is all flash.

it is supposed to show that even the laid back email or 5 minute googler can easily do thie rthing, anywhere, anytime. They could have put some geek there but that would have been retarded.

where did i write that?

Down with the flash, good old html/xhtml would have been perfect

...they need to DROP THE FLIPPING FLASH
Sounds like another polling thread idea ;).

PS: I hate the use of flash - I still refuse to install the flash pluggin for Firefox - especially now the cap is in place - I do not intend to use up my cap just visiting the iBurst sites...:(

PS2: I cannot help wondering if they decided on a flash site bcos they don't know how to deal with cross-browser incompatibility, WBS if that's the case you wasted your time, just get HTMLTidy & develop the site for FireFox according to W3C web standards!

as a flash developer I agree with you IC... there are and arent approproate places for flash.

Totally.
I do a bit of Flash stuff and in fact use it to create multimedia CDROMS - it's also a great replacement for cheesy powerpoint presentations.

well one would think that however alot of thier flash stuff was resized wrong or loaded broken in firefox for me.

I am more a designer/coder and have recently been learning more and more actionscript because some very cool things can be done especially with interfaces for front ends, but they didn't do any of them. The edit form thing vowthorn was talking about could have been done easily with 3 lines of javascript and XHTML 1.0.

Also I can't visit that page on my phone or PDA.

ic - try the FlashBlock extension - awesome !
I know that's been mentioned before, I never bothered with it for some reason - just figured not installing the Flash pluggin for FireFox was the ultimate blocking method - I could be wrong...

PS: In the interests of getting WBS to sort out their various websites (and I know they are still busy working on them), I have stuck this thread. I suggest we all post the things we hate passionately, have a mild gripe about, or whatever, in this thread - it will give the webdev person(s) something to read ;).
