Is anyone else having problems sending e-mails via WBS' SMTP server?

I cannot send any mails at the moment as the server is apparently not responding.

Looks fine to me. I can telnet to both POP and SMTP ports fine.
Might be a connection problem on your side?

Thanks Crash. The problem seems to have been rectified.

Have no idea of what the problem may have been though.

its getting beyond a joke now, i pay for my own RELIABLE servers and i cant make use of it. PLEASE let us use our own servers WBS

I agree with your sentiments regarding the use (or lack thereof) of your own SMTP servers. However it does not seem as if WBS are going to be changing their stance in this regard anytime soon.

I am sure that if enough of us (expecially those with their own businesses) can prove that the unreliablity of their SMTP servers is affecting our businesses, we can force their hand and re-introduce the ability to use our own (and paid for) servers.

RVFmal i have to agree, trying to run a business like this is ridiculous i have to phn all my customers to find out if they got my mail :(
Lets try prove to them the unreliablity of there SMTP server so we can do something about it

We had no end of problems, in Cape Town, over the past few weeks.
Finaly WBS gave me an IP address rather than a URL to use for SMTP.
I haven't implemented it yet as everything seemed to come right, but if you are still having problems PM me and I will pass on the address.

Caroper thanks for the info, but i dont think it will help, the problem must be on the server itself. Another problem is that the mail gets seen as Spam very often as it has different pop and smtp servers

How does one prove that the client is not receiving their mail? I have therecieved and read functions in Outlook activated, but this can be circumvented by the recipient who can turn the functionality off on their sie should they so wish.

I recieve no errors when the mail is not delivered so how do we prove that it is actually happening?

Caroper, you have PM.

I also dont recieve any errors, everything sends fine the mail just never arrives at its location sometimes.. more often than not nowadays.
Its going to be very difficult to prove, i should have saved my tracert to smtp.wbs.co.za the other evening where i could have showed it was down for an hour..
i will save any thing like that in future..

Well here i have problems with SMTP ...only WBS email which i got from wbs works none of my other emails works with SMTP i cannot send any email with it...i have no clue whats going on...

you can contact wbs and get them to unblock your smtp servers... i have done this and must say all my mail probelms went away...

i think if iburst want to be so strict they should atleast ensure their own mail server works well.
