WCape mulls metro broadband

Every major metropolitan area should have broadband connectivity, and this should be regarded as essential services, nothing less. The driver should be national government, and this should be integral to all plans in terms of GEAR, IDP's, MTEF's and so on. Wish I could put a fire-cracker up the bum of some of the officious types we have in the ranks of officialdom...

How in the hell did I miss this. Does JHB have a licence?
Where is the list of licence holders again.

And - R15mil for a sattelite. Verrrrry affordable to build, they don't mention launch or running costs. And - 102 public libraries + 110 clinics + 100 PGWC buildings = somewhere between 15 and 20 mil a year.

<EDIT - oops - they did include launch costs in the 15mil figure - apologies>

15 mil a year for connectivity - 1.25 mil a month. Damn governmint can waste money.

Interesting, wonder what JHB's costs are running at.
