We applied soon as applications opened, shortly after midnight.. while not compulsory, some schools still do their own paper application form concurrent with the WCED online system.. Monday morning, wife went to drop off paper application form at one of the schools we applied to and was promptly told that they cannot find our child on the WCED system at all.. She was also told the same was true of 8 other children, whose parents came to drop off forms earlier..

We have since called the call center, who were utterly useless as expected (after struggling for two days to get through).. have emailed several email addresses, including district head of WCED, who forwarded the email to three other people who have yet to respond to date..

Today we went to hand in at another school and they see the same thing, our child is not on the WCED system.. They also had other parents with the same issue.. definitely an issue on the WCED side, since both schools also confirmed that they have many applications with no issue..

How many other parents are completely unaware of this issue, since the schools they have applied to are not accepting paper application forms..? We only found out because the school checked the WCED system when my wife dropped off the form..

To those here who have applied this year, if the application states not available for CEMIS number, you are likely affected by this issue as well..

My only problem with the WCED application is that it inaccurately captured my particulars as I entered it, had to go back three times to redo it until it was in order. Also when the submissions was printed out in the second attempt I noticed a error which I can tell you I didn't make.

I also had to try numerous times to add the second parent's address because it bugged out.

At least I have all now in order and submitted, also had to hand in the submissions to the schools as requested. Only one school have a step by step process instructing that the rest only have to be submitted to the school once placement is issued by the WCED.

But, yes, I had issues too. Forms issues, bug issues, all related to the online process.

To point out the exact issue I had is that it kept on selecting us as adoptive parents where we are biological parents. The other issue being the address where it crashed and also wrongly printed out on the submission.

They want certified copies of a rates account and school report, so that means printing two copies of each and asking someone to certify that both printouts are the same. Doesn't mean much that it is a certified copy then.

Also had to change the second parent email address, because it wouldn't accept both email addresses being gmail.com based, though different obviously..

The only relevancy is that the original was done under oath in terms with the relevant acts. Even though it is a copy, in the case any discrepancy is noted you are responsible.

That is odd, the WCED system is broken. I was very annoyed with it. By the third time, I had to do a sanity check.

Yeah, they are delusional thinking this here every thing is working because parents weren't complaining about the website being completely inaccessible in the past..

Instead, whatever they did to fix that, caused more smaller issues, like the ones you had and we had with the biggest one being some children completely missing from the system..

Absolute joke..

I have a good idea that the system struggles under too many queries being made. Then the bugs start, to which time-outs contribute. I won’t know, but that is what I am betting on.

Yeah, that makes sense.. a definite possibility..

Yes, but when someone takes the two copies to the police station the person stamping and signing is only verifying that the two printed copies are the same. There is no non-digital copy for them to compare against. If I've modified the documents before printing them it makes no material difference whether they've been certified or not. It still qualifies as a misrepresentation.

I'm not actually making any oath when I hand the documents over to be certified. The commissioner is stating that they've viewed the "original" and the "copy", verifying that they're the same. In the case of a digital document they're verifying only that the first copy and the second copy are identical. There is no original document for them to view. This is probably why my bank stopped requiring a certified copy of a rates account as proof of address and just ask for a copy of the rates account document. They recognise that there is no original anymore.
