can anyone help me I have Western digital 1TB external hdd bought online @ take alot about 2 months ago. It was working fine. I split it in 2, one for my pc backup on ntfs and the other exfat32 for my tablet backup. It was going great untill a few weeks ago. Lost all data its not picking up on both devices. I have downloaded all the apps for formatting it. I managed to format it in exfat32 but then it ask to format again. that is where i am at the moment. I can`t see it in the windows explorer or device management, but see it in cmd but can`t format it. I download data life guard to write zeros to the device. I`ve done it a few times and it stop when it comes different sector number. I downloaded smartware and firmware updater but it just loop for hours then i disconnect, so please what am i missing?

Don't do firmware upgrade on failing drive.
I guess you don't have any kind of warranty, you want to get it working. In such case take it out from enclosure and connect to PC with SATA controller. Then use the same utilities, you will get at least proper error reporting. I am afraid you can't get anything good when using USB bridge.

Get SMART report and post here, followed by usual zero-write, then SMART report again.
