WD TV HD Live custom firmware

Been running it for over 2 years. You have to manuallly create the fanart which devices that can run xbmc do automatically.

Moved on to hp microserver must say I love this little big box, but plex on a smart tv is better.

The first one, unzip it to a flash drive rename it to a newer firmware than the one you have the wdtvlive will then pick it up as new firmware. Then use the web interface to customise.

Also, since I'm running the official firmware (1.06.43), will this mean that the custom firmware will have features that the official firmware doesn't?

The 1.05 flash, the features are custom sheets which is fanart and the ability to stream stuff you don't feel like downloading.

When renaming you would simply make it 1.07 .

Okay, thanks. Does this firmware just add onto the existing features that are already in the original firmware or will I lose the functionality that came with the original firmware?

It adds, I did not notice anything missing but there wasn't much there, you still have youtube and internet radio. You gain the ability to use it as a media server as the harddrive connected to it is accessible even when the wdtvlive is powered down but not disconnnected.

Awesome. Thanks man. Do you know how to get those different icons? Do I need to download a theme?

Not sure what you mean, the movie sheets you create with an app called movie sheets creator or something.
