Hi,

I have to setup a wireless network to cover a hotel property. They have different blocks from the main building. So block A will have 10 rooms, 5 on 5, double story. A few metres away will be block B, 10 rooms, 5 on 5. Distance between blocks is about 10 metres.

The Ubiquiti Unifi would be great, but I cant run cable to each block from the main building. So I was thinking of buying 3 of these and setting up WDS.

Call them 1 2 and 3. 1 will WDS peer with 2 and 3 but 2 and 3 will not peer with each other. Any other suggestions? We need to cover all the rooms otherwise it defeats the point.

If they are all on the same property, chances are good that they will all be on the same electricity feed cables. This means that you can use ethernet over powerline, or "Powerline Networking" to use the electrical cables like LAN cables.

You will have something silly like 250m range. Buy two of these and see if it works on the electrical infrastructure from the two furthest points away: www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=45_49&products_id=12202

If it does work, you can use these to create wireless gateways however often you need to: http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=45_49&products_id=12182

I would recommend staying away from WDS, there are serious performance issues with many stations on a network. Look at dual radio devices that can backhaul on one radio and serve clients on another.

Have you considered a Ruckus solution at all?

Pretty much the leader when it come to hospitality industry.

Maybe PM me a budget and I can work something out for you if you're keen? Hospitality and education automatically gets a better discount than 'standard' install

I agree with a lot of the above , especially with regard to using radios delivering on 2.4Gb and backhauling on 5.8 Gb. In fact now we have access to (beam forming) radios that are capable of giving you NLOS and are more interference resistant so are perfect for this application. If you would care to PM me with some information on the layout of the site , i will gladly assist you with finding a solutions to achieve coverage at desired speed.

Apologies for high-jacking your post. But what HotSpot system will you run? For vouchers and online payments? Can't seem to find a viable option in our market? Any suggestions? Thanks
