All South Africans are settlers, regardless of their skin colour, and their DNA carries the proof.

So says Dr Wilmot James, head of the African Genome Project, a distinguished academic, sociologist and, more recently, honorary professor of human genetics at the University of Cape Town.

And he says South Africans will soon have a public genetic database which will show how the country became populated over thousands of years.

The African Genome project is supported by local genealogy website Ancestry24.com
Interesting.

Nice. Maybe then this "Settler" epithet can finally be buried.

Doubtful... The research will be shot down by the ANC if it undermines their position.

Then again most people will never hear about it so yeah, it won't change anything.

"Settler" and "African" are worlds apart. Literally. It makes no sense to imply the one is similar to the other.

This government turns a blind eye and play ignorant to many things, what stops them from saying the same about this or squash it!...

Maybe. We all know that Africans arrived (if not originated inside) in SA long before the settlers.
But the settlers were really just Africans that went to live in Europe for a while, so everyone's an African.

How many times must I explain this - you are either AFRICAN, COLOURED, INDIAN or WHITE - according to government's enforced classification.

My ancestors went to Europe for a while and then they came back to Africa, So I'm an african.

Hey Capetonian688, I agree 100% with you, we are all African, finis and klaar! ;0)
