We are all settlers in SA

Capetonian688: why do you always derail these threads? Your government is classifying people according to race. That is no better than what the Apartheid government did.

Ag please. Which part of the headline did you miss "All South Africans are settlers, regardless of their skin colour, and their DNA carries the proof."

The original people were the SAN: and they left for 'greener' pastures a long time ago. Yes >black< people are just as much settlers in SA as white people and the further south you go the more legitimate becomes the claim of the >whites< WE were HERE first!

The native population present in South-Africa at the time the Europeans arrived was negligible. It is only through the use of western farming, western medicine, western society that the so called "African" population sky-rocketed to its current state.

So 1 "settler" for every 1 "native", 400 years ago, meant that there was a whole continent to "own", the total population was very very small. Whites have as much right to the land as black people, who at that time did not use the whole of RSA, they could not expand the borders of their kingdom, neither could they defend it, they did not have a legal system, they did not have the ambition either to dominate the whole world. The claims made on RSA was legitimate as nobody else owned it at that time.

So lets face it, the first force in Africa powerful enough to own anything, was white people who arrived here. I further believe white people have a larger claim to the current RSA, than black people do, as what we see here today, has nothing to do with technological progress brought about by the "natives". Countries with a smaller white population are the poorest, least developed in the world. The "settlers" changed countries like the above, to the RSA you see today.

I think you should reconsider your opinion, white people who arrived here, changed this country, instead of acting like they have no right here, get with the facts, white people took control of this country, and voluntarily gave it back under the agreement that the new government would not insist they are unwelcome guests. I have a right to be here, in the same manner you do.

If people of this country continue to be racist, towards white people, then the whole 1994 agreement will be void, as it was negotiated under false pretenses.

Stop making a distinction between white and black, because when you start doing so, you might come off 2nd in your own race, which will also lead to your demise. An example would be Zimbabwe, white farmers have a right to their land, and white citizens have a right to have a voice and the right to live here in RSA.

The government has absolutely no authority nor prerogative on what the truth is. Just because they choose to use an arbitrary standard for dividing people does not lend any credence to that standard whatsoever.

And as Kilo so nicely put it, the bushmen who were dispossesed of their lands by whites and the other south migrating black tribes are the original inhabitants of this area of Africa. The other tribe that is truly indigenous to this region, the khoikhoi, were largely wiped out but with a few intermingling with the so-called 'coloured' population.

And has been put so nicely by others. We're all Africans. Africa was the cradle of man, so to speak. Every human alive today is descended from Africans.

And lastly, your claim to be an African as if that gives you some kind of superceding right to this area, when your ancestors chased off the original inhabitants and thus commited theft, is entirely despicable. You don't get to claim this land on behalf of the original inhabitants when your kin drove them off their land in the first place. :mad:
 
It has never been about who is right, but who is in power at the time.
 
Well, if the strongest survival theory is applicable then white folks are the strongest on the planet in terms of surviving, think about it, Europeans (and the Chinese) is the only race that has actively sought to expand their boundaries and discover new areas to inhabit the whole time, has Black Africans done the same?

What about many years ago when all the continents were one ... there was no African, American ... we were all pangean (the original supercontinent) ... so who the hell cares if we are black, brown, white, pink, yellow, green, blue, orange ... we all deserve the same rights!!!!

And you said government sets constitution for the good of the people ... well the constitution should be good ... but now Mbeki wants to adjust the constitution to serve a 3rd term ... if that happens ... South Africa will be a gonner ... thats basically how every other poor african country went to the crapper ... you know Mugabe was also once a good leader ... he then became greedy for power ... changed the constitution ... and now???

I personally know some people who work for the government ... and they all say that Mbeki is like a dictator inside the government ... we should all get over the fact that ur black and I'm not ... and ensure our country doesn't become part of Zimbabwe!!!

He has actively denied doing that.

He was talking about serving as the ANC president for a 3rd term.

I heard it from the guys doing economics at vasity ... but in any case ... that wasn't the main point to my post ... the main point is that we are all pangeans ... who the hell cares who first got here ... I don't care if you are black or not ... you breath, you smile, you cry, you bleed, you eat, you drink, you fart ... etc etc ... you are human ... so am I ... do you think a black labrador discrimites against a ginger labrador????
 
Mbeki wants to serve a 3rd term and would do so if the people wanted it. He has had ample opportunity to refute such suggestions, but has recently failed to do it. In fact he is reporttedly considering staying on as leader of the ANC - the traditional role of President.

He unequivocally refuted it less than a month ago - has something changed since then?
