We can't help, cops tell victim...

Pretoria - "Sorry, we have nobody to send out. We can't help you at this moment."

This is the answer Matthys Loubser, a resident of the crime-ridden Kameeldrift, northeast of Pretoria, got when he called the local police on Saturday after robbers opened fire on him and his family.

Police spokesperson Constable Portia Maleka said on Monday nobody at the Kameeldrift police office had any knowledge of the incident, but that Loubser could call the station commissioner if he was unhappy with the police's service.

We should start recording calls to the police. I realize most people are in such a state of panic when calling them, that they would not have time to do this, but at least then there will be proof. I am sure Radio 702 will be interested to air these recordings if the police gives you a could shoulder.

As it is now they try and take the easy way out by claiming they did not receive your call and you cannot prove otherwise.

So they did come, the cops? I thought one must call 10111 for emergencies?
