The South African Special Forces Brigade is still awesome
But sending them into another country would be an act of war (Sure, a war we would win. But do we want to declare war over 2 people?)

Agree.... I've seen the STF in action.... blew my mind to see the precision and accuracy these boys have...

All of them in a helicopter over a residential area in the Durban area, circling a house.... random gunfire came up from the house, 4 of the buggers in the helicopter dropped ropes and went to the ground... random gunfire increased quite substantially (at the helicopter and obviously at the guys on the ground).... all we heard was 5 double taps in VERY quick succession and silence.

This I know... this is kind of why I'm sitting here going :wtf: at people suggesting we send in the military etc over 2 random peopel.

Where exactly have you seen them in action? Did you actually stop to ask them if they were that division or did you just assume they were?

Since we are getting facts straight, come on lay your facts down...

No I more than likely wouldn't... but I would understand other people who would say what we are saying...

Plus I very much doubt I would be trying to raise funds to pay the hostage takers.... because I know that it is the absolute WORST thing to do.

I am pretty sure you won't like it, but thats (give or take) the cost of a human life in this country.

I saw them during a hostage situation where someone had taken his wife and kids hostage in cape town a year or two ago. The Argus identified them at the Special Task Force.
I saw them again last year when some guys during a robbery last year, that had gone wrong, and hostages were taken, not far from my house in Adderley Street in Cape Town.

There we go. You finished being being unmasked as talking s**t?

And either way, the constitution forbids them from acting outside South Africa's borders as they are a SAPS unit!!!!

HAHAHA ok i am trying to stay serious here, i apologize for the apparent **** talk, but at this moment there are two Ex-STF members with me, both over 50, both done multiple missions in other countries, should i tell them they are lying? My boss is an Ex-SANDF member, his job back in the 80's was to patrol the sa side of the border between rsa and botswana/namibia they were not supposed to go into other countries, but they did, several times.

So maybe you (the expert) are correct in saying it is illegal, 'BUT IT HAPPENS'
 
Fact of the matter is if they were Poms or Yanks they would have been outa there along time ago and or there wouldn't be a "deadly" silence about the whole matter and the goings on before the "release".

Hmm....that is true. That was probably illegal what they were doing. Unless it was " in co-operation" with a foreign police service. And I'm not sure that that would even be legal? Any constitutional lawyers care to venture an answer?

SANDF is military. It is precisely the organ used for something like this.
SAPS is police. Civilian policing inside our borders

And you bring up apartheid era SA government? Which was so well known for respecting the law and other countries

You're quite the expert, also quite a dick but knowledgeable nonetheless.

So then according to you, it would be legal to send SAND Forces into Somalia to quietly retrieve our citizens held against their will?

If so why not? I do not think it would cause a war! It would not be an attack on the people but rather an attack on the terrorists!
