We lead in online banking: Absa

ABSA are the type that would screw up a 1 April joke by doing it in July.

From this portal, neatly behind a single sign-on, customers can view and manage all Cheque and Savings accounts, Credit Cards, Mortgages, Vehicle and Asset Loans, Investments, Unit Trusts, and even Online Share Trading accounts.

Hasn't FNB been offering these same services online for a while now? Not certain about mortgages, investments and unit trusts; but I am sure the rest has been there for a while.

Not to knock one bank, imply that X copies Y or anything along those lines - I am Switzerland when it comes to banking, personal is with Capitec and business is at FNB.

Either way, good to see ABSA trying to improve on the systems which customers have to use.

I actually like there new internet banking page, but as far as I can see it there is no way to make it default or am I missing something?

But ABSA is on the pricey side for what they give me as a costumer.

Their new banking page is taken straight from FNB's one.... A few changes obviously but the general layout and tabs are taken from them. Massive improvement on their old site tho

“Since then Absa has led the way in online banking, in terms of sheer customer volumes, breadth of financial services available online, and the rate of innovation in this channel.”

I'll give them the "customer volumes" part, but the rest is BS imho. And they say this while being the only bank of the major four without a banking app. In fact, Capitec will probably have a banking app before them :/

This online banking platform isn't even launched yet. What's the deal with boasting about upcoming attractions. They had an abortive launch a month or so ago.

My mom and dad have ABSA, the online experience is so clunky! I'm with Nedbank, and even though they're not the greatest, it's still a MUCH better experience than ABSA IMO.

Their new page might be better though, if so, yeah belated kudos.

Just as a counterpoint to this - today it seems FNB started using push notifications for inContact stuff. Awesome!

I struggle to use their website. I halve to continuosly go back a few pages if I want to do more than one transaction or check my balance.
