We really don't know what we're doing...

Thanks for the Supertramp reminder. Breakfast in America is one of my fav albums :)

Sorry mate, it was off Crime of the Century. Wouldn't diss Breakfast in America though. Crime of the Century is very dark. Breakfast? A celebration of that groups long sought after success. But it's not without its dark moments.

tend to agree with you, though I put my faith in a higher power that Science is woefully inadequate to describe.

Am an agnostic. I'm not swayed by this "Science is God" argument. I like a little mystery in my life.

Au contraire. It is slow (330 m/s in air vs 3e8 in vacuum for gammas) but it could be fast enough for our purposes. But its simplicity and compactness is enticing.

Um but the slow in your imaging is how long it takes render an image right? I mean fine the actual little protons zip along at proton speeds .... but the problem is the computer on the other end isn't it? Cue quantum computing!

The image, whether rendered by photon, proton or ultra sound takes the same time. Same maths.

Right, so I get invited to a seminar today. Ya' know RF and linacs stuff. Routine. Maybe I'll learn something or two.

No fundamental particle physics ain't my gig. When we hit quantum chromodynamics and the CP violation my eyes clouded over. Brief (5 mins) RF stuff was interesting though. Can't see how it'll be applied to PT yet.
