We want broadband

To help achive the goal - Mark de Simone, vice president, Middle East and Africa for Cisco Systems will be offering all Cisco hardware at cost price less 40%.

AS IF - This is just Cisco jumping onto the free marketing bandwagon .

Mokgosi-Mwantembe identifies three ways of solving this problem: mentorship, improving technology adoption and affordability, and focusing on areas in which we have a global competitive advantage.
This all falls to pieces because we have NO competitive edge to speak of when it comes to electronic data transfer. You would be better off setting up a sweat shop in Lesotho making cheap printers m8.

To quote from a related article:

...the communications department must stop holding talk shops and push through some sensible, aggressive, liberalised and enormously overdue changes.

Enough talk!

"Cisco has committed R80m over the next two years to facilitate ICT skills development."

Ok, how and where ?? Thats sh$t load of funding ?

We want broadband, but the government doesn't want us to have broadband,
it's as simple as that. For them it's MUCH more important to have total control over everything no matter what the cost to the country.

They can easily control Telkom, that's why they don't want any REAL competition in the telekoms area, and for the people that think that SNO will make ANY difference as far as prices are concerned, don't hold your breath.

Agreed. The SNO has stated that they do not wish to enter into a price war with Telkom. Enough said.

Wost case scenario, SNO's prices are only slightly lower than Telk0ms!

Would still be worthwhile moving to SNO just to demonstrate your hate towards Telkom.

So the SNO's main selling point isnt going to be lower prices but rather that it's not telkom?

Only in SA.

SNO? What?

Well we thought the same thing would happen when Cell-C arrived; it would drive prices down and create competition, but instead .... Cell-C just followed the other two sheep ...

now there is two cows in the pen! are they following the sheep too!
