Cheaper communications will be brought about by partnerships between government and the private sector, not just Telkom, the private companies doing their infrastructure are mostly welcome and will assist a great deal in lowering costs. legislation for an enabling environment for private companies has improved a lot.

Regarding your 2meg line you've had since 2008, I don't think that in any way means that we have not improved, I think it's a flawed way of measuring progress, what if 5 million more people now have 2meg lines since 2008? is that not an improvement?, in government's eyes it is, I think it is fair for government to be concerned about more people having access to the broadband internet before worrying about speeds.

I am not in any way saying that government and Telkom are doing a fantastic job, I am merely saying we are improving.

And 70$ for 1Gbps. Our rand just dropped badly, used to be cheaper.

Yeah, but I still can't go higher speeds so the ~30% price decrease in the last 5 years doesn't allow me to upgrade.
