Weaning off Risperdal

he is on a ridiculously low dose but we have seen results and he has improved alot so we want to take him off it.

Why do you want to stop the drug if it's helping?

Not implying you should do anything in particular, just curious.

Personally though, that's a crazy drug for a kid to be on...

Psychiatrist must assess this.

Do not stop this drug abruptly you can cause serious damage. This is something you shouldnt interfere with even I wouldnt interfere with it

at those wondering why kids take it. Some of them really need it .... they comepletely psychotic

So the doctor replied saying I should use 0.2ml for a month, then 0.1ml for the next month, then stop.

So I'll try that and hope all goes well. thank you for he input guys.

have you guys had any experience giving up Risperdal?

Patient: 4 and a half year old male
Condition: ODD
Current dosage: 0.6ml
Weight: 15kg

did any of us 4 year old guys had any experience giving up Risperdal?

used rispirdal before, not that I am psychotic, it was just a wrong diagnosis.

Dont think it is a good drug for a toddler to be on

I personally believe parents should stay away from medication that affect their children's psyche until they reach late teens / early twenties.

My son (almost 5) has been put on 0.3ml Risperdal, due to his autism.... The wife have up to now not given it to him, and his teachers agree that we should wait as long as possible as they dont have any problems with him at school

powerful stuff that Risperdal.
