Web addiction a disorder?

China could become the first country to classify Internet addiction as a clinical disorder amid growing concern over compulsive Web use by millions of Chinese, state media said on Monday.

The internet is basically a window to articles, games, entertainment, movies, education, etc, etc, etc.

To classify the internet as an addiction and a clinical disorder would be no different than classifying a pair of spectacles - a device used to achieve a purpose, to access materials otherwise inaccessible - exactly the same way.
