Web Africa ADSL general feedback

I do with ~250 - 300 latency. Single player and in parties and I have no problems.

Try between 16:00 and 20:00, latency is at about 300ms but with huge spikes lasting 5-30 seconds, switch to an Axxess account and I get 200ms solid without any spikes.

Edit: Also patching SWToR doesn't work properly when I'm on my WA account, I have to constantly pause and resume the patcher to download the last couple of KB's of each patch where as my other accounts it just downloads the whole thing without any problems.

I have been playing pretty much every day with the same latency. yes there are lat spikes every so often but no more than I had on a Mweb test account.

I guess this account just works for some people and not for others.

Anyone had worse than usual browsing with timeouts the past two days?

Not sure if it is only my side but today and yesterday is the worst browsing I have ever experienced on a webafrica account. I dont have another isp to confirm on which side the problem is. Timeouts, pages nor loading completely and yesterday evening my max download speed dropped by 10Kbps.

Can you guys please drop me a PM with your client code and your account types so I can have our ADSL guys investigate this further for you.

Sweet, I haven't been home in a few weeks and I see the rolling window has changed to a weekly cap. :) That makes me a happy chappy heh. Now to play catchup ...

Well I have not made much use of my WA account as am enjoying MWeb. Last two days though I have been using my WA account

Must say browsing on one hand improved a lot of the time, and has been quite enjoyable, but...

I have to reload stack of pages before the page actually appears. This happens with many sites, and I had to eventually go back to MWeb as one page just was not loading, and first attempt with MWeb and all loads perfectly.

Anyone else having issues or is just me :(

I'm having the reloading problem s well, but two reloads at the most solves the problem. Further I'm quite happy with Web Africa. I can even game!

It has changed :)
We'll be notifying everyone about the changes officially soon. Busy with the notification mailer from today!

Have you contacted our ADSL guys about this yet? Not reported issues on this side. Would like to test and see if we can replicate any issues on this side.

Isn't it less now than it was?

For e.g the 384k used to be 0.3 in 6 hours and 4.25 in 7 days

...but then again I did fail maths...

@Jeff I know you did not direct this at me, but as I did mention it, yes I did mention it to support this morning when I spoke to them. The fact that two people mention on this forum tells me there is something - just seems to be more severe on my cases. I have noticed it happens a lot with my broadband; speedtest and a DPR forum.

I have also had issues with my RedAfrica account recently. The last 3 days I have had so many DNS issues that I am using OpenDNS' servers now. Also, my 8mb line performs line a 1mb no matter what time of day so its not shaping that is causing it and on Afrihost I get full line speed. And to top it all off, I have to switch to another ISP every time I want to play D3 or WOW as the latency sits at over 2000ms. Once again, on other ISPs I get a stable 170ms latency.

Now I love my RedAfrica account as it is very good value for money but if the thing just doesn't give the basics, then can you blame me for wanting to go elsewhere?

Everything was wonderful up until about 2-3 months ago when "network upgrades" took place. Since then it has gone from bad to worse.

Yes I can see that but doesn't it work out to be less than it was?
Ok lets go over it again. This time, I am going to ignore the 6 hour window, and only look at the 7 day window, to make it easier to do the maths.

384k Old 7 day window: 4.25 gigs. (4 gigs rounded)
384k New 7 day window: 11 gigs. (11 gigs rounded)

11 is more than 4.25. (11 is more than 4)

Off the top of my head a few numbers / observations on uncapped:

4meg went from 44 (AFAIR) to 71. Quite a jump.
D3 with 3 computers on sunday. Pings were between 200 - 350ms.
D/load speeds between 150 - 370kbps.

Happy with the results of late. :)

I quickly worked out the 1Mb one.... It went from 116GB per month (max) to 130GB per month (max).

But read this.... :wtf:

Is my Home Uncapped account shaped or throttled?
No, it is not shaped or throttled! Home Uncapped is prioritised according to Silver Bandwidth priority. For more information on traffic prioritisation, see our Bandwidth Priority Profiles article.

Wait, but isn't bandwidth prioritization based on protocols, the definition of shaping?
@WA... I would strongly suggest that you fix your wording there.... because you are now advertising an unshaped product, which is shaped (based on protocols obviously) and throttled (out of window).
