Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Me and mrlgm007 also both on redafrica gave notice last month so only have 7 days left. Been a good run but all good things must come to an end. Pity as I like your web interface that allows me to see my port number used in the past and phone number in use and allows me to disconnect. The usage meter per hour split being uploads and downloads is also nifty.
However your second domain server recently being down for a very long time without being fixed and when it was fixed you didn't acknowledge it fixed and the downtime period it was for. I feel the matter just should have been dealt with better.
Anyway leaving for another ISP at the end of the month. Might be better might be worse but not having any regrets.

You can count moklet on that as well my last few days on redafrica. It was a brilliant offering but WA has been to problematic lately so yes i am also leaving

Had the same problem for the whole week,pm'ed jeff and this is how his excellent support was.

Pm'ed jeff, told him i can't connect to WA server for the week, with different random popular nzb's,with both grabit and sab
Jeff asked what error i got, telling me it's fine on his home connection.
I phoned WA,support guy confirmed he too can't connect with his test machine, said he'll log a fault.
Pm'ed jeff again, told him about the phonecall
Jeff replied, what errors,it is fine on his home connection
I got pissed, wanted to tell him to do something to himself, instead,I told
him he could've follow up on the phonecall from work, rather than telling me it is fine at his home.
I told him that after 5 days/nights everything works now, nothing changed on my end and that it had to be from his end.
I also thanked him for his lack of support.
Jeff hit back with a sarcastic reply "erm,ok"

Now that's service for you.NS works for me now from yesterday, probably thanks to that WA phone support guy who logged a fault.

Coaxing, bribery.... addressed above.
Really don't see how you guys see me doing this?! I'm offering a solution and insights on what we're planning to do to FIX the problems. Nothing more.

I'm not a retentions specialist.

As I've also said before, we're working on a CRM solution to link online usernames to accounts which will eliminate this, as well as implementing a list between Justin and myself. How else are we supposed to get your account details from MyBB?!

You obviously missed the jibe I was making.

Regardless, I'll leave you with this; how long have you been promising network upgrades/improvements now? Even if something like that takes months to implement, people don't want to stay on something that is as broken as your uncapped seems to be at the moment. This thread indicates that you are haemorrhaging clients at quite a rapid pace. Something needs to be done about it. No other ISP's feedback thread on these forums gets quite as much negative feedback as yours.

Also, can you PM me your client code?

It isn't only their uncapped accounts that are broken, capped accounts are also stuffed.

Also, can you PM me your client code?

The mail I just received from WA:

Hi NULL
We’ve made some exciting improvements to our Home Uncapped service that’ll give you an even smoother ADSL experience!

We’ll no longer be using a 6hr rolling window to determine when slower speeds kick in for users.

We’ve also increased our 7 day rolling window thresholds to ensure a better uncapped service. This means you’re less likely to be moved to a lower priority on our network and experience slower speeds as a result of this.

Use the table below to check your new 7 day rolling window threshold.

Home Uncapped package Old rolling window threshold New rolling window threshold
384kbps 4.25 GB 11 GB
1Mbps 11.07 GB 14 GB
4Mbps 44.3 GB 71 GB
10Mbps 110.74 GB 225 GB

Read more about rolling windows and our Acceptable Usage Policy in our Home Uncapped Q&A.

Visit your DSL Console to check your usage.

1) A bit late don't you think?
2) My Name Is Not NULL!

Other than that, still no complaints of late regarding their uncapped service.

I received the same email...but I had my name in there :p Maybe the script just had a bug with your name ^^

Most likely, I was just taking the p*$$ out of them. :D

Currently, I have no issues with WA uncapped. I game, download, browse with little to no problems. Only youtube seems to get stuck when buffering (and it seems to be a problem for quite a number of ppl from different ISPs).

Can the children going on about "can you please PM me your client code" please leave this thread? How else are they supposed to track accounts?
My capped WA account works great - now and then I have some latency problems but it's been much less of a hassle lately; definitely an improvement. I also always get great speeds - something which another big provider used to struggle with! I also don't experience any shaping that I know of - which is the way it's supposed to be :)

That's our bad. :(
Our mails run data via a CSV which is pulled from our database. For some reason a few "nulls" came through. Having our Devs look at it already.

Thanks for the support :D Appreciated!!
Granted there are better ways of tracking the accounts - and we know asking for client codes all the time is a bit annoying, but we're working on a great solution for this.

Thanks again for your continued support!

Yup, I have the same issue with Youtube, but it's Google's fault...it pauses the buffering when you pause the video :/ Very annoying.

Furthermore I'm really happy with my ADSL account. Just the Telkom part that really peeves me off.

No. How about you stop infringing on my right to free speech? (that was a jibe, btw)

I'm not making jokes about the fact that it is how he collects information, I'm making jokes about the fact that it is necessary in the first place. More often than not, Jeff has to ask for client codes because either support failed the customer, support told the customer there was nothing wrong with their account or they simply ignored the customer's ticket.

Also, can you PM me your client code?

As opposed to the way MWEB Guy does it?

Good morning OrbitalDawn, please DM (private message) me your MWEB account details and I will verify for you.

I only have the issue with YouTube not buffering when paused if I'm connected on my WA account, my Axxess account continues to buffer even when paused.
