Web Africa ADSL general feedback

wow and I'm considering signing up with them!

I had a home capped account with Web Africa and never had a moments trouble. If I were looking for a capped account now I would probably return to WA as everything just worked all the time. At work we use a home capped account and it's still great!

Edit: I don't recommend home uncapped if you're looking at that (from my experience), but all the other accounts I would recommend.

Once more 4.6mbit +- after midnight , 17.4mbit at 11:30 pm.

Starting my leave webafrica plan unless there are no more competitions.

I have a capped WebA. account, and under Usage (for September) it's still showing that 50TB for "Free Download Plus used" - if you hover over the question mark, it describes what they did for August. Didn't they revert to 50GB anytime for September, and if so, why haven't they updated the usage narrations & amounts.

I'm not concerned as to whether it's 50GB anytime or after 12 midnight, but they still need to update it for September. Anyone else see this as an error, and have they been notified?

I've verified using the parent's account (they're still with WA -- I need to migrate them off, but that will be tricky as they're suckered into one of those free e-mail addresses that come with the DSL account) that the capped accounts seem to still have 50 TiB of afterhours usage assigned to them, no doubt due to the Google Glass competition. It would appear that the tooltip was simply never updated.

This is still a DSL Console bug though, and you should report it. I have the e-mail address of their product and development manager, which I will send via private message on request, particularly as front-line support appears to be overwhelmed, incompetent and/or just plain rude of late.

Thanks for confirming @Kelerei.

The account I have is used by me as a secondary account, for work. Therefore, thanks for the offer of the e-mail address, but I'm not too fazed about it. I only use a few GB's a month from this account, anyway.

I was mainly surprised that people who have WebA. as a primary account hadn't seemed to raise this issue already, and it's the 3rd of the month.

Maybe if a WebA. rep. sees this, they'll get it sorted, unless they start getting numerous complaints first ;)

Can a WA rep confirm what kind of shaping will be applied for the capped accounts actively going for the entries in the competition (i.e. those that download most) - I am asking as I am in top 20 and having a crappy time streaming twitch.tv during normal hours and that never used to be a problem.

D3 is lagging like hell tonight but Youtube and streaming is fine. WA, you suck big time.

I was lagging both on my webafrica and my openweb uncapped accounts. Lots of my friends with MWEB could barely get any international websites to load so think it might be something going on.

Whatever you did to the durban region speed after midnight was back to full for me !

I downloaded for just over two hours and those two hours went at full speed, so let's hope that this is Durban sorted and full steam ahead :)

We're have extended the 50TB promo into September and have given our customers the opportunity to win a pair of amazing Google glasses :D

You can get more info on this via our website here.

The promo will not effect any capped customers experience outside of 12-6am and we do not apply any shaping to those customers who are using the DL+ for the promo.

If you having an issue with your connection our ADSL team will need to investigate the issue to see where the problem lies. PM me your account details and I will assist.

Thanks for the feedback guys and our team fixed the problem in that area yesterday so going forward things should fly!

So I've noticed that I have increased latency, and despite being in Cape Town, the Google Analytics of one of my websites is reporting that I'm in Pretoria (yesterday) and Vanderbijlpark (today). Why is this happening??

You're probably not getting routed their CPT POP anymore.

so for the sake of just giving my feedback.

Swapped over to webafrica from afrihost I had a huge issue with the games I played that time with afrihost and wanted to try webafrica, swapped last month over and everything was fine for a week, then started the signs of a exchange issue where I would lag incredibly long and get high latancy ranging from 400 ms - 2000ms, webafrica gave me feed back after around 3 days and they said its a exchange/dsalm issue.

now fair enough you believe a ISP when they say its a telkom issue so I left all my testing etc and continued to believe them.

in between all this webafrica bills me for the month of july a full uncapped 10mb bundled account ( eventho I only started with them on 1 Aug 2014, then they bill me a 10mb adsl line and then they bill me for the next month... they took a total of R2500 in one go and completely ruined my bank account with there billing system fault have to sit here with no money for 3-4 days till they pay me back... just FYI still haven't received my money and we are on day 3.

now tonight I decide when it starts lagging again just swap over to a capped afrihost account and check out the vibe there... and behold the amazing feeling of 169ms for more than a hour... all my lag issue gone, no more spikes nothing... so that exchange issue hey...

and at 10:30 pm I think by my self perhaps was it a port session recreation that resolved the issue and no issue on webafrica's side.. well behold the lag returnes just when my account authenticates and my internet comes back online, I open my trusty old path of exile oh and look at that latency 400 ms spikes to 2000 back to 1000 etc etc etc...

story of my life this 50tb **** was the biggest bowl of bullsh*t ever....

will appreciate feedback from the webafica team - I would also like to know when my money will be paid in and what we can do to resolve this lag issue, my suggestion is you give me a capped account for the rest of the month, downgrade my uncapped account to a capped 1/2 gig account and transfer my line back to telkom. I will defiantly be swapping to a other ISP at the end of this month.

oh my word.. to top it off the person named Mkululi Jonas just replies to my email I logged on my open ticket that is suppose to be a telkom fault after I explained its only on webafrica uncapped account where the high latency happens ... they send me a other clients account details and login information to cancel my line... the amount... of privacy breaches...

I think peterw*******@yahoo.com won't be impressed to see that I have his account details now.

hopefully the webafica mybroadband agent will be able to assist me with my issues and complaints

No issues at all on our network side. Have you taken this up with our support team so they can troubleshoot?

Hi B1G_WH1T3

Your issue was logged with our team when you logged the Hello Peter complaint on Tuesday. I will follow up with them and see why they have not called or resolved the issue yet.

Sorry about the fact that the wrong details were supplied to you and I have addressed this with our ADSL manager as well.
