Web Africa ADSL general feedback

I have not had any issues with my WA capped account, although I only get home at around 5.15 PM soo...

Jeez, that's slow, may I ask what line speed and is it a business account?

Sorry, I only checked my post now, for 2mbps, that speed is right...
but you are concerned with the issues with streaming and web browsing, perfectly understandable...
I was considering moving to WA next month, I am having serious doubts now....

Hi Guys,

Our Network team are not aware of any network issues and we will need to investigate each issue on a case by cases basis so can everyone having issues PM me your account details, local & international trace route results as well as speed test results so I can pass it on.

As soon as I can get this details I will escalate it.

Hi, I haven't followed all the troubles on here, but thought I just wanted to add my own story. Today is the 11th of the month, and my 4mb home uncapped account was at 36gigs for the month. I average about 100 gigs only, so this was spot on. I have however for the past few days been forced to use afrihost and mweb accounts due to slow speeds on my main Webafrica account. I finally had enough, and investigated, and saw that I was on a "3 star" rating. I'm not sure what all of that entails, but I know that every aspect of the internet was extremely slow.

Now I might be completely wrong about this, but I don't think a measly 36 gigs over the past 11 days is excessive, and I definitely didn't think I should be throttled so severely, whether that be during day or night. My heaviest usage was in the middle of the period, and even then it was only about 6-8 gb for the day. It was explained to me per telephone support about not working with specific limits, and about 10 day rolling periods etc, but I still find the idea of throttling an uncapped account so severely after 36 gigs ridiculous.

I was forced to revert to a capped account for the remainder of the month, since even stock tickers etc was being delayed. I'll decide what to do then...even the lowest accounts with the other isps I've tried gave me better service.

First major trouble that I've had with WA, but it seems it's just their SOP.

WA is a joke! - Routing is all messed up. Same with the capped pro accounts.

Will test some more, otherwise CANCEL.

Good Day

Thanks for your email.

Yes that is correct, you are currently being throttled. So websites that require high amount of downloading will take longer to respond.

Description
High volume protocols throttled to 10% line speed during office hours 06:00 - 18:00

Users impacted
Approx 5% of users

Why would I be in this category
Your usage within a 10 day rolling window was flagged as being high in hours 06:00 - 18:00 and/or very high in hours 18:00-24:00. High usage from midnight to 6:00 does not affect your category

Please let us know if you would require any further assistance.

My usage stats (last 10 days):

This months usage: 69.3 GB
10 day usage: 67.1 GB

Seriously? I'm paying R400p/m for this piece of sh_t! SCREW YOU AND YOUR SHAPING POLICY! SCREW YOU!

i switched back to 10mbps BUSINESS uncap

and guess what support tells me

"Good Evening,

I have checked your results that you have provided and can see that the tests that you have conducted with both the uncapped and capped account shows similar results.

Could you please do another traceroute test when the uncapped account does seem to slow down again.

Thanking you kindly.

Regards,
Jessemaine"

Online gaming is a joke this weekend. 1st month in after I heard great things and Afrihost is actually better

Constant disconnections
Maybe time I tried Crystal Web.

lol. okay boy.

If you want proper internet, go with Crystal Web. It seems they're fast becoming the only viable option in SA.
