Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Wow, horrible speeds this week, I wait about 10mins in the lobby to actually live chat to someone and get this now:

Our live chat feature is currently on a much deserved break, and so are our staff. Our live chat hours are between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. Please submit a support ticket and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Guy probably checked, ag its 10 to 6, not in the mood for this guys crap.

The few times I tried to use it there was no-one home.

Gonna be honest.

Been using WebAfrica home uncapped for just over a year now without any hassle... Up until this month.

Speedtests shows good speeds (on a 4meg line) but browsing, downloading http or ftp is not up to scratch. Qued large p2p downloads for the afterhours have been dismal.

And a bigger kick to the teeth. This month my total usage (including afterhours) has been about 50gigs. Daily usage outside of the afterhours download zone is about 1.5gigs a day.

Was downgraded to 3 star earlier this week and now a 4 star.

Time to re look at ISP's again, Afrihost looking mighty tempting

I have used (or tried to....) the live chat at 10am, 10:15am, 11am, 12pm, does not matter what time it is, that message always pops up.

Seems like Telkom, iBurst and Afrihost staff have taken over WA's "support".

Can't even play GTA V because I can't log onto Rockstar Social Club... This week has been bad speed wise... and that doesn't include my current outstanding issue with constant disconnects.

@WAHelper

Friday night update

Busy with a DL now and am averaging 25% line speeds, so problem not even close to being resolved :(

When will WA get more capacity from IS so these problems go away?

TOP TIP:

When an ISP FAILS in the bandwidth provision department (ISP's sole purpose is to make sure contention stays in check and forecast properly and it's sounding more and more that WA weren't prepared for this and were just reacting to the market conditions by upping their caps), it's time to not hesitate and put ones 30 day notice as these capacity issues tend to drag out for weeks if not months.

Apparently they're making it very difficult to cancel these days and one has to phone in now. I have heard about long hold times, IMO, I think the best time to contact a call centre is first thing start of business (8:05).

Haven't been having issues with speeds but latency in game is horrid and my connection drops ever 15 minutes. Had to resort to using my free 1GB axxess account last night just to enjoy a full, uninterrupted game of dota. Pity axxess is so expensive. Might just bite the bullet and switch to axxess though, my WA experience has been horrid lately...

I want to upgrade my line speed on my telkom line, but I pay WebAfrica to manage and maintain the line. (As this was a cheaper option back in the day, dunno if its still the case).

I want to upgrade from 4mbs to 10mbs and they say they cannot do it instantly? It will only activate on the 1st of December - why is this? I've seen reports of ppl on these forums saying Telkom can do this over the phone while you are talking to them.

Come on WA join the party.

Any advise on how I can get an immediate ADSL line speed upgrade from 4mbs to 10mbs?

Thanks

Saturday evening at 18:25 and my DL is running at 25-30% of line speed :(

Another poor night of capped account performance with WA

Hi All,

On Thursday I ordered a VDSL + capped bundle through WebAfrica
I recently moved into my new household, and the technician would have to come and install (wires are there but no box)
I haven't been contacted as of yet and was wondering how long install time is? When signing up It did not ask for my physical address. I'm a bit confused as to what is happening, as I've only received an email stating that I've signed up and nothing else.

right so emailed WA Support, will wait for a response before sending in a cancellation.

This month, 22days in and i'm throttled to a 3star with noticeably slow browsing.

My Total usage this month, up until today (22nd) has been 55gigs.
Usage between midnight and 6am is 18gigs.

This means that i'v used 37gigs (1.6daily) and they consider this high usage and a reason to cap?

The 37gig usage is never any p2p, only browsing, a few ftp upload/downloads, dropbox, youtube, social media, mobile usage etc.

Hardly a heavy user i think?

Downloaded some Steam games last night and was peaking at 689kb/s.
Not bad really.
But any other browsing and streaming Youtube vids, etc is almost painfully slow.

And still no reply from WA's support since the 14th November (9 days ago).
Pathetic, really.

My speeds have also gone to hell in a handbasket.

Just tried to do a speed test and my connection is currently so borked that even speedtest.net timed out:

I appreciate the data upgrade but right now I'd much rather have it the way it used to be...

Very sorry to hear this, please PM your details and our DSL team will investigate further.

Thanking you kindly.
