So Web Africa sends out a mail shot with a customer survey.

The link is 404. :wtf: Nice going!

Our surveys are targeted at certain groups each month so that we don't spam our customers too often with surveys.
 
WA after hours Throttling = USELESS

Seeing as so many WA reps are here.

I am one of the :confused: lucky :confused: 100 that got 30Gb accounts.

On 384 Telkom line

Been using the account mostly for browsing -- tried to download a set of drivers from DELL last night

Wonders of Wonders -- download is showing 3-7 kbs -- that is like dial up speed.

Manged to get my new DELL 5530 Mobile Broadband card working after waiting for TWO hours for the driver download :erm::mad::twisted:

Instant 150kbps on Vodacom HSDPA


Then I was able to download more drivers and got the new INTEL 5300 WiFi card working.

Steady 40kbps on the Telkom account ( which is connected to the WiFi subnet )
( Where are you Telkom -- I need to give you a hug and a kiss -- you have NEVER let me down :love::D )

Waited unitl 01h30 to see if things would improve on the WA account -- went up to about 12 -13 kbps

SO -- PLEASE WA can you EXPLAIN

Odd.

I have a 30GB int. account from them as well and I get full line speeds on my 4Mbit line. Even torrents pull as fast as they can be seeded.

I am in marketing, not technical. But what I can say is that the 30GB accounts that we gave away in the Mybb special are identical to our standard 30GB accounts in every way.
We have no throttling in place after hours at all.

From your explanation though it does sound like the fault is on our side.
I'll chat to Ian and see if he can find you a better explanation.
 
I'm quite happy with WA. They got our adsl line up in one week. Something Telkom couldn't do in two months.

“Krayon” - Stick to Marketing and don't respond here. WA has enough staff responding here, most of which is apologetic.
 
I'm quite happy with WA. They got our adsl line up in one week. Something Telkom couldn't do in two months.

WA, like every other ISP in SA depends on the Telkom Backbone for normal ADSL services. I am sure that WA had nothing to do with speeding up your ADSL Installation other than making a couple of calls.

We setup a remote office in KZN the other day which had "No Ports" available and after speaking to some of the guys at ground level we managed to get the installation sorted out. They are now up and running.

Go Figure ?

Back to normal ( for a 384 line ) now.

Web pages even seem to load faster now :)

PS; I know one should not make too much use of the MyBB "agony-columns" ;)
but
Heck it works like a charm every time -- beats the pants off any other form of activism.:love::D

Actually, the problem was definitely your side as the 404 was generated by your site. Your survey probably hadn't gone live yet when I received the email.
It worked a few hours later, fwiw.
