Getting really slow access, locally and internationally with WA. WoW ping ranging in the 1500ms...

Anyone else having issues?

I would suspect it to be the Seacom maintenance.

no issues here, but seacom maintenance is taking place afaik.

Web Africa stated several times they're NOT using Seacom, how would it affect their services? Did this change? Was I asleep on their forums? Didn't I get the memo? HUH???!

ty for the rest replying, I think mr.sniper's download is killing the bandwidth WA has left :p

LOL! nah my WA is almost dead now too

Yeah we don't use Seacom. There is no reason I can see that it should be slow, what area's are you guys in?

I am notifying Engineers now.

Um isn't there also SAT3 maintenance being done today? It was highlighted in another thread I'm sure of it. So if WA is using SAT3 bandwidth I guess that could explain why?

I've been having the same problem. Latency in wow was 1300ms so dropped that and played bfbc2 and now I can't connect to EA anymore.

Lol, WA's COO doesn't even know??

But other ISPs/Organizations (TENET etc) that are normally using SEACOM are now using backup bandwidth (from what I presume is) on SAT3/SAFE. I guess it is possible that this increase in users on SAT3/SAFE could affect the existing users.

Still very slow internationally:

Local is fine, so there is nothing physically wrong with my line:

WebAfrica just posted this on their server status

[SAIX] Slow International connectivity
Please be aware of slow browsing when browsing to International sites, as there is currently
an issue with the the link between Bellville and Asburn.

SAIX are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Update will be provided as they become available.

Yeah I still need to go in for my telepathy upgrade.

Seriously though, as we don't run the local loop and SAIX doesn't provide us with any realtime monitoring it does unfortunately take us time to troubleshoot isolated probs outside our network.

We're pushing SAIX to give us an ETA on having this resolved.

Spot on, I think I should have included that in my last post. Then again with the link in Bellville affected it might be compounding it so much more.

Looks like this might take a few hours to be resolved. We're pushing SAIX as hard as we can to get this fixed guys and keeping our status page updated on the prob:
