Sheesh ... yesterday I added WA to the ISP praise wall because I get to download all my steam purchases for free. Today I can't download F1 2010 because it seems it isn't cached with WA yet? Steam is the reason I'm using WA.

Anyone have an idea of how soon after games are available for download on steam, WA has them cached? It'll be silly to pay R200 for a game and then spend another R200 on bandwidth just to download it.

PS: I tested by disabling Steamwatch. Downloads perfectly then. Without (restricts to WA as content provider for Steam), starts of at 80kb/s then stops 10s later, everytime. :(

Mods, please move to the gaming section if this should rather be there!

Steam tells me:

Available: 24 September 2010
This game will unlock in approximately 1 day and 21 hours

WA might not cache preloads of all titles.

Sigh its been explained to death.

It seems the WA server is offline atm for some reason, downloads stopped at about 6pm today, well for 2 of us at least nobody else have posted anything on the webafrica server.

MWeb uncapped will solve this problem ;) With Steam I get full line speed everyday all the time.

Well the newest titles are not available that quickly on the WA server, but generally i've found it appears eventually. Patches seems on time though, patched a game [2.2GB patch mind you] 2 days ago without issues. The patch was released 2 days ago...

Anyway since F1 2010 has not released yet, i probably wouldn't expect it to be on the WA servers either....

Regardless, WA already said countless times they are NOT officially supporting this whole Steam business at this stage. So they do have a Steam Mirror which works 80% of the time, which is good, but don't cry if it doesn't work. Everything is "unofficial" because it does not work "hassle free" . So if you pick WA purely because of Steam, knowing it's basically in BETA , then you really can't complain if things don't work...

True, I shouldn't "expect" WA to deliver this, I've just gotten used to everything working hassle free thus far. It really is a great service, beta or not. The game hasn't been released yet, but you can preload it (I've gotten about 200mb down already). Meaning the moment the game is released you get to play it. For now the files are just encrypted.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to be patient. :-)

Hi Beylie; to reply to your original post, our Steam content server basically has a mind of its own. From our perspective the actual content server itself is a black box which basically has a giant "on" button, and that's about it, as far as the actual content server software is concerned. I'll inquire with the Steam server content guys at Valve Central to see if there is a problem with the F1 2010 content being uploaded to us, but also keep in mind that we will lag slightly behind US and European deployments. We have implored them to try and give us the same or similar priority to our European counterparts, and they have responded in the past that they will endeavour to do so. Maybe they just need another reminder...

I don't know what you did Choc_Salties, but WOOT!! Downloaded 6.2GB of F1 2010 in the last 2 1/2 hours! Thanks dude, thanks WA and thank you Codemasters! :-) Flying at 805KB/s!
