I inoccently bought uncapped for one month at WebAfrica 2 months ago. I considered it prepaid uncapped. They had a "pay online" link, but it did not work. So after a few calls, they convinced me to give credit card details, and I thought it was a once off! Later on, with he throtteling, I tried to change to 10GB, thinking it was for remainder of that same month, but it was registered for the next month. I left it as is, beleiving I am on prepaid. End of that month they debited my credit card for 10 GB ! I called and the lady said "it cannot be changed!". I told her to NEVER deduct money from my account again. If I want data from WebAfrica or whoever, I will pay for it when I want it. Now I received another Web Africa statement, billing me for 10GB data for October! And on their website it will not allow me to cancel "without 30 days notice!" . The statements also contains: "Interest will be charged on overdue accounts (2.0% per month).
"'. WTF! I dont WANT the data, so DONT make it available to me, nor charge me for it! I hope they are not going to put in another credit card transaction, becaue that will be criminal! I hate companies like that! What a disgrace to the human race!

It's your fault for not reading the terms and conditions. The uncapped accounts are not prepaid, if you wanted a prepaid account you should of signed up for one.

This doesn't sound like WebAfrica's fault, but rather your own. However, speak to them, and I am sure that they will try to accomodate your special request for cancellation.

No, actually, it is a disgrace to the human race that people like you don't make sure what you're buying, before paying for it.

From what I read the fault lies entirely with you not reading properly. Nothing wrong on WA's side.

OH !
Sorry Web Africa.
I must stop accepting terms and conditions without reading all the fine print on the internet.
I'm gonna buy me some juicy worms to eat

Yes you should. But more realistically, you could have at least phoned them, emailed them, or submitted a support ticket, to ask how to it works, and what the payment and cancellation terms are.

You made some major assumptions, without firsting getting the facts straight, and now you want to get upset it about it. What WebAfrica has done is pretty standard in the ADSL market. They're not trying to screw you over, or hide things in fine print. They would have gladly given you this info had you asked for it.

Disclaimer: I don't work for WA. My favourite ISP is Afrihost, followed by MWEB.

Hi kedul

Sorry to see you aren't 100% happy with things.
I would however like to bring up, that the cancellation period is mentioned upon signing up as well as our KB article - linked from the ordering page.

http://kb.webafrica.co.za/article/A...ave to take out a contract for Home Uncapped?

8. Do I have to take out a contract for Home Uncapped?
Not at all. We don’t feel the need to bind our customers into contracts that aren't always convenient for them. You are free to use our service on a monthly basis, provided you give a calendar month's notice if cancelling.

A number of people have wanted to try out our Uncapped, however you could have maybe requested a trial from our Sales guys which wouldn't have set you back anything?
Please PM me your account details and I'll see what I can have arranged in terms of voiding the cancellation period. I can't promise anything, but let me see what I can do for you.

It's always important to go through cancellation terms and other detail before ordering anything :)
