Web browser usage stats for August 2011: Chrome still climbing

People still use IE??

I use it on work pc. The stupid thing is so slow, it would probably fall apart if i try downloading a different browser.
Use chrome at home tho!

People still use IE??

Unfortunately yes, most people buy/use a PC, only know of and use IE, aka "The Internet".

I think it's pretty much the same type of user that uses Google to search for say, Facebook, and access the site that way. The other day I told someone to go to "somesite.com", and they actually typed the address in Google first.... I have not managed to commit homicide so far, but damn it is hard to resist, especially in cases like this.

Chrome, FF, Opera, Gecko, friggen Lynx FTW!!!! (Just not that super clicky fail abomination called IE)... I mean they took 8 MONTHS to fix the Adobe hole FFS.

And none of those people even ask "why does the icon for Internet have "e" in it instead of "i"?

I remember a few months ago when windows update delivered IE9 to my pc - very first site I opened: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". lol. Went straight to "control panel" > "programs and features" > "Turn windows features on or off" and unticked IE9. Haven't seen it since, and certainly haven't missed it. I mean, it had to restart the OS to install a web browser FFS...

I use chrome and firefox. Two monitors, one for firefox and the other for chrome. I use them at the same time.

I don't see a huge increase in Chrome on the desktop. I suspect a goodly percentage of the numbers come from rapidly-growing mobile use, reflecting Android's current smartphone penetration. I don't have a religious view of the technology, btw. Total tech agnostic.

why are people still using IE?

Own up 33% I want to know how you can handle it.
Yes who are these 33% of mybroadband users and can we get their browser to be automatically displayed in there sig when they post so that we can ignore them!

Pffft, uneducated posts like yours are the ones that need to be ignored. Its just a application for FSM sake, one that displays content stored on servers. I have tried different browsers and don't see much difference except their looks, no other functionallity interested me so I use IE8, why is that such a problem to you?
