Web browser usage stats for August 2011: Chrome still climbing

59% use IE in South Africa :(

come on guys start using a REAL browser like Firefox or chrome :P
 
The only reason for the high usage of Internet Explorer is that most corporates use it as part of Windows and Office as standard.
 
Can we get a breakdown of IE? Such as what percentage are still using IE6 etc...
 
why are people still using IE?

Own up 33% I want to know how you can handle it.
 
My Opera is just right for me, thank you very much.
 
Add up all the users at Eskom, Telkom, Old mutual, Sanlam, all the banks, all the corporates and all of goverment, thats how much IE is still being used out there. They won't change because thats what their IT departments will support.
 
I would have imagined chrome going downwards because of plugin issues.
I have been disabling all plugins for a while now. Else I get tons of 'oopsies'.

Yup standardbank business banking is a pain in anything but IE.
 
Sadly, i think the new Firefox version sux abit :(
IE has been way more stable and responds allot faster than Firefox.

Regardless of which you prefer, most like to know how their browser of choice is doing in terms of its global (and local) usage and cheer them on, or perhaps rage against the stacked odds.

The same way many South Africans like to watch sports, really.

Sure, it's a quite a bit of extra work to tabulate the stats for the different browser versions (IE is most notable here, but there are also folks still using older versions of the other browsers as well), but if you reckon it's of value I'll include those stats in future as well.

IE8 is on top with 36.86% usage.
 
I love the Opera browser, but was forced to use IE recently when a certain news site refused to load correctly in anything else.
