We are an international Linux technology development company who provides both wholesale ISP solutions and opensource-based solutions to corporates, government organizations and resellers. This job is best suited to individuals truly over the edge passionate about technology, open source software and Linux as most of the software we design is opensource and freely available.
In short this job entails:
* Maintaining a few company forms, our funky company and project branding artwork (mascots)
* Design and develop websites (mostly WordPress-based) for us, our projects and the occasional client
* Developing artwork, clean page layouts and responsive widgets for web-based software packages
* Depending on your skills, PHP programming on the frontend and/or backends of our software
Requirements:
* Experience using XHTML/Javascript/CSS/XML/JQuery/Bootstrap and creating clean site designs and interfaces that comply with W3C standards
* Must be able to install & configure a basic LAMP hosting system
* Good knowledge of Apache configuration including .htaccess files and URL rewriting
* Basic knowledge of MySQL
* Basic Linux experience (this is a PLUS point too the more experience you have)
* Experience with WordPress and site management using WordPress
* Experience with Wiki & forum typesetting
* Experience with the Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Inkscape (all current artwork was done using these)
* PHP Programming experience a PLUS
* Git experience a PLUS
* Vim experience a PLUS
* Background in IT, familiarity with ADSL products, reseller/shared/vps/dedicated server hosting and online backups is a BIG plus
* Friendly and well presented
* Good telephone etiquette & communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure from management and clients
* Ability to take constructive criticism
* Lots of confidence with ambitious & vibrant attitude
* Pro-active and constructive team player
* Proper English usage and clear spoken, some of our large clients are international
* Not afraid to go the extra mile & willing to work overtime, Saturdays and Sundays if required, some of our websites are International
Role Description & Responsibilities:
* Maintain around 20 company websites, including periodic re-designs and content updates
* Design and develop layouts, styling and basic functionality for various web-basd software packages we develop
* Setup and install WordPress
* Maintain company branding and artwork, provide artwork for varius projects including icons, images, forms, flyers
* Attending to tickets on our ticketing system relating to web development
* Report on all critical and important aspects concerning your work
* Adherence to company policies and procedures
* Work according to your TODO list and priorities
* Work closely with peers and become part of a growing team
* Sense of humor a must
Additional roles:
* Proof read website content for spelling and proper grammar use
* Answering phone and live chat
* Working with our sales team to develop product content
