web.goldrush

hahaha!! pr0n gonna end with .sex... ppl gonna get busted :P
Classic stuff :) i think this is gonna be awesome if it happens :D

with a system like this it might take a good while before 'all the good names are taken'...

Interesting.

*lines up domains he wants to register*
*realizes corporates will get there first*
*realizes that even if they don't, they'll win any auction*
*sigh*

So yet more corporate domination then :)

I dont know about the rest of you, but im against this move. Its going to get harder to guess urls, etc. Also, i understand that companies or organizations can lay claim to urls that relate specifically to their title, like microsoft.com. So if i managed to purchase the microsoft domain today, microsoft would have a claim to that domain even though I am its owner. I agree that more top level domains should be created, but I dont think that anyone should be allowed to create any extension.

Im confused - who has access/control over top level domains? If i create a 'sky' domain (like www.news.sky), whats stopping anyone from using that domain (like www.viagra.sky) ?

If you bought the domain .sky, you would be able to sell (anything).sky. So mr viagra.sky would have to register the domain with you.

Don't expect it to be cheap though.

Im with Hyperian on this but maybe we are just too 'old skool'. It seems like an admin nightmare but I need to read how it is going to work. I cant see how one can quickly establish who is authoritative for a domain with there going to be an infinite number of new tld's.
Any ppl here can give a simple explanation? Mr Elkins maybe if hes reading? Guess Ill JFGI it.
