Does anyone know how to get into the web hosting business…I am in the process of creating a few websites for people and I am using a 3rd party to do the hosting, how would I go about doing the hosting myself?

Or are these thing best left to other people?

Ignore my last questions I have just found some to do it at such a good price its not worth my while to worry about it

Yes, these things are best left to other people, but just for interest sake, I'll answer your question.

You need a reliable server or two. Clustered would be good
A server OS. Linux, *nix or Windows Server
Web server software. Apache, IIS etc
Mail server software. Sendmail, postfix, exchange etc
A way of managing your customers. Cpanel, plesk etc
A nice big, fat, stable internet connection with a static IP
and DNS server(s). Bind etc

Mix all the ingredients and you have yourself a nice little webserver :D

Some hosting companys have reseller programs which would probably suit your pocket more ;)
