Web Intact (Or intactless service)

I am having the same problems you have cyberarmy - you have been capped, seems they were busy yesterday at GWI - first JohanG hinted\told me I was capped and then I phoned GWI to confirm and they told me I have been moved to the IS "congested" line because I have reached my 3Gig cap. I am also averaging 3kb to 7kb - just access my online banking to do a transfer, it took me about 10 minutes to do a simple transfer. Really frustrating. Wanted to download new nVidia drivers but nVidia's main webpage is still loading after 15 mins and counting):

I have never exceed my cap before, and I should have 8G per month, maybe someone else from my house has been abusing it.

Mr Web Intact,

How far along is the network uprgades seeing that the capping policy is now 100% in place.

When will we see the 512k connections or is it just a eye blind. So that everyone can stay on their current connection with a cap.

No hard feelings just looking for some clarity because you've sent us just that one letter stating the changes and after that we've never heard anything about it again.

good point diebaas, 3 gig cap sucks but the 512k would make up for it. Like some of the other ISP, is it not possible to have Local access aswell; uncapped or capped to about 10 gig with our normal line speed:confused:

With patches and updates getting so big 3gig is not enough.

same problem here with my Vista updates; connection very unstable - using dload manager now to dload the updates from microsoft's website.

fyi
I was recommend by a friend to go this route:
Do Level 2 broadband (384K) from Telkom - includes 2GB of international and 20GB of local for R258 per month

Don't really want to go the Telkom route after spending lots of cash on my wifi equipment and installation but it is tempting...Mr Web Intact I am sure you can meet\match this offer or am I pushing my luck :)

A note about the upgrades on the Verizon backbone - we have been testing Alvarion products to take over from our existing wifi backbone links for a few weeks now, and have just had a horrible experience.
They are just not as stable or reliable, and we are not getting the promised throughput. After having invested around R250k in the initial batch (take note Daffy!!) we're starting to feel like we've been hoodwinked...

Our suppliers are slower than cancer in responding to our problems, so its gone MUCH slower than we had hoped. They are now finally working with us to resolve these issues, but no joy yet.

Oh yes - and the auto capping/account management ISP system is in its final phases of being set up. The existing databases are being transferred, and this should be up pretty soon...

Would you like to hire the services of a few CASS (Certified Alvarion System Specialist) engineers (Who would have told you, that BreezeNet-B's are not a carrier grade backhaul solution)?.
Otherwise, relax. Alvarion are sometimes a bit slow, but when they realise whats going on, they're great! But, it sounds like you're not dealing directly with Alvarion... And I've heard some scary tales about the South African distributor of Alvarion kit...

But this has nothing to do with the horrible quality of service I'm having while on the IS backbone, does it?

Is this when we will receive the full 512 line speeds?
Is the auto capping still a soft cap (IS backbone) or a hard-cap?

It is an odd coincidence - nothing changes as far as wireless access is concerned whne you get capped.
Hmm? I've been down for 44 hours out of the last 48 - please advise/explain. Pings work fine (albeit slow), just nothing else, like browsing, email, ftp etc. It's a waste of time trying to call you guys over a weekend.

this will be my last remark\comment in this thread.

Have cancelled my service with GWI.

My area is finally ADSL ready!!!
