Web Intact (Or intactless service)

yeah...if the local agents + upstream team haven't got the drive for quality delivery + communication (imho biggest problem today in general) then competition is going to take the customers away...
Precisely.

Can you tell us the tower you connect to and the nature of your problem?
I basically don't have Web, although downloads work fine. Is your's the same and for how long?

It's tricky. The main problem for torrents and wireless is you don't have a fixed IP. I've got best results with Vidalia/Tor proxy-type installation (Google to get it and learning curve involved) and uTorrent. Sometimes it works well and sometimes not at all, but it's the reason I'm capped very month. Perhaps PM if you want some help?

Thx buffalobill, but I don't need torrents. The other two keeps me busy enough :D

Same tower.....Internet only started to work after supper tonight.

Precisely.

I noticed last night that I could browse the web again :confused:. Not very fast, but at least it's working again.
Since around the 15th I have been able to download (although at a throttled 64kb/s), but could not even open Google

Oh, and this bullsh1t about phoning their support and them telling you it's your router etc. etc... I've been given the same story - bad signal, router, blah blah..., but just wait a few more days when they reset the cap and you'll see that there is actually nothing wrong on your side .

It should be better once they complete their backbone upgrade....I am stuck with GWI because I do not have a choice, dialup very expensive, no ADSL and not willing to use ADSL because lots of problems with our lines in the area.

The backbone upgrade is on Verizon though, not on IS where I'm currently having my problems.

People the problem isnt with you, your router or your tower, the problem sits with the IS service, they started capping me since last year as i can easily reach 5 gigs in 1-2 weeks. What ive realized is that they change your public ip often thats why one moment it works fine and when it changes it stops working for a certian interval, at certian times of the day it doesnt work at all. And everytime you fone them they say its your signal or its very strange problem, till i phoned shuan who manages ther network and told me i was being capped.

So effectively they fsck up your connection completely

Why don't they just screw us properly and hard-cap our accounts. Then there will be no question about where the problem is :mad:

You are very lucky if you phone tech support and are able to get a hold of Shawn because he's the only person there that knows whats going on. I hope he gets a proper salary cause it sounds like he's the only person working there, the rest are just their to fill quotas or something.

Adress all your complains in writing keeping record of everything. Also keep a record of all your pings.

Had a near perfect connection since Wednesday, getting results in excess of 500kbps from speedtest.net!!

Just hope it stays that way!!

Another day without internet, internet died after 9 last night, lasted for an hour.
Probably will be the same tonight.
Dont know WTF is going on but if GWI is upgrading their infrastructure, it's not going to take them the whole day? And during public holidays?

GWI's marketing/public relation people is non existent, and Chris is too occupied with upgrade so he doesn't come to the forum anymore.

Don't have to tell you, only time internet is working today is now, and probably will die soon.

...and I'm still capped from last month :mad::mad:

I tried to call their support on Thursday & Friday (not sure if they were operating on the public holidays or not ), but no answer.
Finally got through on Saturday...
Sorry I don't have access to that part of the system and I can't get hold of Sean who does...
Sunday, still capped on IS @ 64kb/s. Can't browse or e-mail (but funny enough I can still download :confused:)
Monday, still capped

WTF is going on , it's the 5th already and they haven't reset my account.

Same story, no browsing no email no download for the past week but I can use instant messenger (not MSN). Browsing resume only after 8pm everyday and last between 1-2 hours before it dies, and during the working hours it's not reliable at all (IS).

Yup. ADSL. The prices have come down and it's starting to look more attractive for me. I work for myself and I learned long ago to keep overheads down, which is why I'm with GWI.

Hate Telkom, they've screwed me too many times over the years (since dialup). Waiting for Neotel to cover my area.

I'm back on Verizon but still can't browse or e-mail. They're giving me the same story again about my equipment and signal strength -- why is it that every few months I have this problem for about two weeks and then it suddenly comes right without anybody doing anything about it?

They also haven't reset my bandwidth usage when I got switched back. I've used ~2Gb of capped bandwidth before they switch me back and apparently that now counts towards my bandwidth usage for the new month

I think I'm going to cancel my contract anyways. What's the point of paying them for something I can't even use
